BREAKING: Elon Musk says AI is moving so fast that it makes his head spin.
“I'm in AI & it still makes my head spin. When I go to bed, there'll be some big AI breakthrough. And then when I wake up, there's an AI breakthrough. And by the time it gets to lunch, there's another AI breakthrough.”
BREAKING: Elon Musk says full and rapid rocket reusability is the breakthrough needed to make life multi-planetary.
“The fundamental breakthrough that's needed is full and rapid reusability, which we're hoping to achieve with the Starship design by catching the ship, hopefully, around the end of next month, and then reflying the ship either later this year or early next year.”
“With our Falcon 9 rocket, we recover the boost stage and the fairing, but not the upper stage. And this is like throwing away a medium-sized jet on every flight.”
“Full and immediate reusability of rockets, like aircraft, is the fundamental breakthrough that's needed to extend life beyond Earth, to make life multi-planetary, and to create self-growing cities on the Moon and Mars.”
🚨ELON MUSK: “Life cannot just be about solving one sad problem after another. There must also be things that make you excited to wake up in the morning. That make you look forward to the future. That make life worth living. And being a space-faring civilization is one of those things.”
🚨 ELON MUSK: "Neuralink, where we want to try to solve the bandwidth constraint that humans have. So, because you can imagine, like, even in the most benign scenario where the AI is super friendly and wants to do everything it wants to make you happy, just our rate of communication is too slow.
So, like, the peak human bandwidth is only about 100 bits per second, roughly. And our input bandwidth is much higher because of vision. So there we maybe have, it's a debatable point, but, you know, a megabit per second or a few megabits per second from our eyes, which are, in fact, like cameras. But our output bandwidth is really low, maybe 100 bits per second, whereas computers are communicating at a trillion bits per second.
So, anything we can do to increase the communication speed of humans will improve the, I think, the alignment of humans and machines. Because otherwise, to an AI that is communicating at a terabit a second, talking to a human would be like talking to a tree."
BREAKING: Elon Musk predicts at least 1 billion humanoid robots within 10 years and describes what life could look like when everyone has a personal robot.
• “The 90% positive outcome is that everyone's got robots that are their buddies.”
• “... take care of elderly parents or be a good guardian and watch over the children or be a teacher, like an individualized tutor to your child.”
• “I think you'll see many companies where it's one person with hundreds, maybe thousands of robots, like physical robots as well as digital robots.”
• “My prediction is that there will be effectively universal high income. In fact, it's not clear to me that money will even matter in the future.”
• “... if you want a castle, you know, robots will build you a castle.”
• “... the robot will be happy to work 168 hours a week, continuous.”
