@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi Then stop pretending to understand what the Bible says you can or can’t do. You spent days arguing what the text means, only to say "who cares, it’s written by unknown people" the second your argument collapsed.
@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi 2) The original Greek text uses mikroteron meaning smaller & ges meaning soil or local farmland. Jesus was talking to Galilean farmers in a context they understood, not making a literal statement about every seed on the planet.
@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi Ah, the same copypaste script that keeps popping up on my timeline. Two facts you should know: 1) "Small as a mustard seed" was a common idiomatic expression of that era for the smallest thing imaginable.
@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi Whether a person is idolized by others has nothing to do with how I treat them. Me showing respect by bowing doesn't mean I worship them.
@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi the verse was talking about false gods in replacement of Yahweh, worship is implied, so don’t even bow to these things
@korrathetaymi Korra causing Christians to do an impromptu Bible study, only to find there were no contradictions at all, just a lazy understanding of the passages 😅
@korrathetaymi This pattern is evident all throughout early Old Testament writings. The vocabulary often attributes events directly to God when He is actually permitting them to happen, just like when the text says God hardened Pharaohs heart or "the evil spirit from God" in 1 Sam 18:10
@korrathetaymi Chron was written much later, after the exile. By this time, Israel had developed a more precise vocabulary 2 explain 2ndary causes. Instead of attributing everything directly to Gods hand, the author names the role of spiritual adversaries like Satan.
@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi 3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
again, its context. The fact that you have identified "other" as "gods" meant any act of bowing down is worship. When you bow in respect to other men, you don't treat them as gods.
@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi this is the exact cut and paste what she said "“Bow in reverence” to a human being JUST AS and IN THE SAME EXACT WAY as we do so to God!"
She literally said bow in reverence. You can bow in the same way but with different intentions.
@IslamicPackers@muslimorthodoxy Gen 17:18 isnt about a "God-fearing nation." Abraham uses a strictly singular verb for his 13yo son Ishmael. "Live before you" is an ancient idiom for survival & inheritance favor, not downstream theological piety.
@ArchTheAtheist The Bible already describes an entire realm of intelligent life outside of Earth. The concept of non-earthling beings isn't new to Christians.
@jiihaadis@Otyman_@korrathetaymi because there is a massive difference between "in reverence" and "in worship" that you keep on misunderstanding. The act is exactly the same but the heart is different. So its not the "bowing down" that is forbidden, it is the motive behind the action.
