🚨 A white police officer was caught on video beating a young Black child who was already on the ground.

The officer is seen kneeling over the kid and repeatedly punching him while the child begs “Stop, bro.” The boy is clearly not fighting back, yet this piece of shit keeps hitting him like he’s enjoying every second of it.

This is what happens when racist cops are allowed to treat Black children like animals and get away with it. Disgusting.

3 judges with the International Criminal Court filed a lawsuit in a US federal court against Trump and his administration, challenging the sanctions against them and calling it a "financial death penalty."

The judges bringing the lawsuit are:
- Kimberly Prost (Canada)
- Solomy Balungi Bossa (Uganda)
- Reine Adelaide Sophie Alapini-Gansou (Benin)

Trump placed sanctions on the judges over their judicial decisions regarding investigations into war crimes by Israel and the US.

The judges argue that the sanctions are extrajudicial measures meant to punish and coerce them. They say the restrictions cut them off from banking, online platforms, travel booking, and sometimes health insurance.

This should be much bigger news.

Today marks 62 years since James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner disappeared near Philadelphia, Mississippi, while doing the dangerous work of Freedom Summer: voter registration, education, and civil rights.

They had gone to see the burned remains of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where members of the Ku Klux Klan had beaten worshipers days earlier. After being arrested and released that night, they were kidnapped and killed by members of the Klan. Their bodies were found weeks later.

Their lives were taken because they believed democracy should include Black people, because they believed voting rights were worth risking their safety for, and because they understood that justice requires courage.

As we honor them, we must also recommit to protecting the right to vote, confronting hate, and continuing the work of freedom with disciplined love and nonviolence.

I congratulate the University of Ghana’s School of Performing Arts for that masterful reenactment of the transatlantic enslavement at the Osu Castle during the Next Steps Juneteenth commemoration.

Their brilliant performance is receiving wide international acclaim with invitations already pouring in from multiple countries including Barbados, Jamaica and the US.

Republicans looked the country in the eye and made a promise. When they rewrote the food stamp program last year, they said children would not be touched.

Pregnant women would not be touched.

Families with young kids would not be touched. They said it on the House floor, on the record, in front of everyone.

A year later we know the truth.

More than 776,000 children have been cut off from food assistance. In the states that track participation by age, kids make up nearly half of everyone who lost benefits.

These are kids who went to bed hungry because a politician wanted a talking point. 

We must be a country that feeds its children. We used to believe that was the bare minimum. Take care of the kid who is hungry through no fault of their own.

The people who broke that promise should have to answer for it, and in November they will.
