Blizzard wants to appeal to younger players, I get it. They want the game to last and bring in younger generations. They’re focusing on more cozy vibes, the writing is friendly and safe. Family and friendship overcome evil. But you know what? It’s terrible and genuinely sucks.
People editing Liadrin’s face to look more “delicate” exposes a double standard in how we treat male vs female characters in fantasy.
Look at the cinematic. She’s literally framed side by side with Lor’themar. He’s blind in one eye, scarred from war and his ruggedness is celebrated as proof of strength and experience. Nobody’s rushing to “fix” his face and they shouldn't.
Liadrin has been through just as much. She’s led her people, fought on the frontlines as a paladin, commanded the Blood Knights, but when her face reflects age and the weight of war, people call her ugly or masculine just for not looking like a porcelain doll.
The irony is that Blizzard’s cinematics are praised for realism. People have begged for years for the game to look this way. But the moment that realism dares to touch a woman’s face, suddenly it’s a “problem.”
We need to have a serious and long talk with this level of disrespect Horde Players are faced with when simply asked to be in the same story -WITH- the Alliance.
In those 20 years the Alliance also got stories & are getting more while the Horde is on pause. Both deserve focus.
