Only way I've gotten a (professional engineering) job is either knowing someone, or through a recruiter.

I lost an interview when a recruiter realized I'd already applied through the company's website (so no $ in it).

@idobadtakes 15 miles low for many people.

My wife and I are at more like 175 miles/day combined (but I think we get more like 30-35 mpg, and about 60 miles on battery).

@AceMakesCents This is anti property tax propaganda is silly. They keep reassessing the value of your house while you're paying the mortgage, and those property taxes keep going up (as will your payments).

@ProbablePrime I did this with a friend's Doberman one time, and looked up to someone staring at me with wide eyes - but I could tell the dog was just a big baby that wanted to play (despite objectively being kind of terrifying).

@MissFushiGaming Yeah, I played BG3 into mid-act 2, but then got busy, then sick, and before I knew it I had no idea how to get back into that game (I could barely follow the story as it was). Happy to see this kind of stuff.

@Nintendeal Looks great to me. I missed the N64 generation of games, so I'm looking forward to this (I think old 3d graphics look awful, so I haven't bothered trying the original).

@WholesomeMeme Yes. Clicking around on LinkedIn, I found a small company that looked interesting, and found a 2nd degree connection to make an introduction (passing on a resume). I eventually got a job and worked there for about 5 years.

@simonmaechling Early-onset cancer rates are going up globally. I figure in some number of years, we'll figure out why (kind of like how people used to use dishes made with lead or uranium).

That doesn't mean vaccines or things with scary sounding names are to blame.

@ProfNoctis Yeah, I have no interest in GTA 6, but stoked to try out Ocarina (I completely missed that generation, and old 3d games look awful).
