[WATCH] We canโt have people in our country who are undocumented. The issue of illegal immigration is an issue for many countries around the world itโs not unique to South Africa. The crisis in neighbouring countries has affected our borders hence we experience an influx of undocumented immigrants.
To this end, we have heard the legitimate cries of our people against the various social and economic challenges associated with illegal immigration. However, we have always emphasised that vigilantism is a dangerous terrain, which creates anarchy and undermines the rule of law.
Enforcement of the law is the responsibility of the democratic State. It cannot be outsourced to private groupings who want to take the law into their own hands, often driven by the desire of some individuals to hijack the genuine concerns of our people for political expediency. The anxieties of South Africans are real and legitimate
