@Maher_Memes@Bushra1Shaikh The British Raj invaded and colonised India from 1858 to 1947 and condemned the civilians of India to oppression, rape and abuse as well as more than one million Muslim’s, Hindu’s and Sikh’s who died in the hands the British but ok
Kirpan is not the issue !
Interesting stats on the UK prison population and the Kirpan for y’all:
Sikhs make up just 1% (607) of the total 87,334 UK prisoners (England & Wales). Out of those, the number convicted of ‘Violence Against the Person’ (VAP) remains very low.
To put that in perspective, there are around 30,500 total VAP inmates in the UK. Here is their religious breakdown (based on latest proportions):
• Christians: 44% (13,400)
• Atheist/None: 30% (9,150)
• Muslim: 18% (5,490)
• Buddhist: 2% (610)
• Jewish: 1% (305)
• Sikh: 1% (305)
• Hindu: 0.4% (120)
(Note: VAP includes everything from homicide to non-physical injury like stalking).
Even if we falsely assumed every single one of those 305 Sikh inmates used a Kirpan, they still only account for 1% of all violent offenders, and a microscopic 0.35% of the total prison population.
The data speaks for itself: statistically, the Kirpan is a non-issue!
Some of the replies are actually disgusting and prejudiced against Sikh’s. This knife doesn’t even look remotely anything like a Kirpan. I’m of a Sikh background (My family practice Sikhi, I personally don’t) and I know people who carry a Kirpan and no crimes have come from them
I am always going to speak up about my people and my culture because it’s something I’m proud of and something I should have done during my teen years when I hated being a brown girl and I wanted to be so white. Please don’t let this affect yours or anyone’s opinion on Sikhi.
Literally didn't happen. People have speculated I might be from everywhere. All sorts of European countries and other. The only thing I said is I'd hate to be mistaken for an Indian, because they're gross. I don't really want to be mistaken for a turk, not even because I don't-
