Il noua un simple foulard rouge sur son visage, non pas pour se cacher, mais pour pouvoir respirer dans la fumée épaisse et suffocante. Avec ce morceau de tissu, il commença à guider des survivants à travers les débris et les ténèbres.

Welles porta une femme blessée dans ses bras sur quinze étages. Puis, sans hésiter, il remonta. Il sauva une autre personne, puis encore une autre. Il fit ce chemin héroïque de sauvetage encore et encore.

« Tous ceux qui peuvent se lever, levez-vous maintenant. Et si vous pouvez aider les autres, faites-le », dit-il. Sa voix était un phare de calme et de détermination au milieu de la peur et du chaos. Il ne cria pas, il ne s’enfuit pas.

Il agit simplement, avec un courage et une empathie presque incroyables — un instinct de protection que rien ne peut enseigner.

Le corps de Welles fut retrouvé quelques jours plus tard, aux côtés d’un groupe de pompiers, un outil de secours à la main. Il montait une dernière fois.

Ling Young, une survivante qu’il avait sauvée, parla de lui en des mots simples et bouleversants :

« C’est mon ange gardien. Car sans lui, nous serions restés coincés là, à attendre l’effondrement. »

Welles Crowther sauva au moins 12 vies ce jour-là. Il mourut avec ce bandana rouge sur le visage, devenu le symbole de son sacrifice silencieux mais éternel.

Certains héros deviennent des légendes. D’autres, des chefs. Mais les plus grands héros sont parfois des gens ordinaires qui, avec un simple bandana rouge, nous rappellent que la force la plus puissante du monde est l’amour et la volonté de sauver autrui.

😖😖😖 I remember the train parking lot in Greenwich CT the weeks after 9/11. The same twenty something cars ALWAYS there. These cars belonged to WTC workers who were murdered on 9/11. Obviously, they weren’t coming home & families couldn’t bear to come & get the car . I looked in one of the abandoned cars as I crossed the lot & saw a toddler booster seat & a bunch of worn looking picture books. I looked in the abandoned car next to it & saw what looked like T ball equipment. 😖😖😖😖😖

🚨#BREAKING: A mother is FURIOUS after a Pennsylvania town CRIMINALLY CHARGED her two little girls, ages 10 and 12, and dragged them into court...

...because a playground swing broke while they were spinning on it.

Yes, you read that right.

The two girls twisted the chains to get dizzy, the chain snapped, and the borough's response was CRIMINAL MSCHIEF CHARGES for a 10-year-old.

This is Springdale, Pennsylvania, just outside Pittsburgh.

On May 21st, a group of kids were playing at Veterans Memorial Park where two sat on the swing and the others twisted the chains up tight and let go, so the swing would spin them dizzy.

Every one of us did this as a kid... hundreds of times.

The chain broke. Nobody was hurt.

Two weeks later, a POLICE OFFICER showed up at Katie Huss's front door with SURVEILLANCE PHOTOS of the children on a swing.

The borough had split the repair bill among five kids.

$59 dollars each.

Three families paid up and their kids' charges disappeared.

Katie demanded more information:

"Show me the evidence my daughters did this on purpose and show me the swing was even inspected prior to this occuring."

She didn't pay and so her 10 and 12-year-old daughters were CHARGED WITH A CRIME.

Criminal mischief.

BY the way... under Pennsylvania's criminal code, that is a charge that requires INTENT.

The two little girls were terrified and had to sit in a courtroom while a police officer testified against them for "not using the swing properly."

Thankfully, the judge threw it out and found them not guilty.

It was CLEARLY an accident, not a crime.

...you would think it would end there, but it doesn't!!!

The borough is now threatening to sue this mother in CIVIL court over $180.

And Katie still hasn't been allowed to see the video they used against her children, it was shown to the lawyers, but not to the mom.
