My number one piece of advice to everybody who lives through a mass shooting is to talk about it with each other. Your family will not be able to understand what you went through. Nobody who hasn't been through the hell you're experiencing is going to understand it at all.

@hebagowayed Honestly I really like Bluesky for the local community I lived in for years until I moved to Taiwan for grad school. Now that I don't really have a reason to be plugged into that stuff anymore my feeds is just cluttered with the kind of nonsense you describe.

Today an undergraduate student of mine told me that last night a strange man - approx late 20s, white, brown hair - knocked on their door and said he knew they were my student and that I worked with migrants.
