@BadSeedBooks@Bscorpiio@cruelheartslose You realize white people can speak fluent Spanish, right? You were passed over bc you didn’t have the skillset they were looking for, not because you were white. You were unqualified
@SocietyQueen999 I don’t have kids, but I know I want to. It took me a long time to get to that conclusion. It’s not responsible imo to not spend sig time thinking about it b4 having them. Too many ppl do it bc it’s “just what you do.” I respect the hell out of women who choose not to have kids
@carmas121976 @AmelleKyre @RainbowsGumdrop I also find it interesting the parallels of JA relationship “saving” her from the 2016 summer to now MH “saving” her from her breakup induced broken heart. It causes some of the denial stage songs of TTPD feeling like they could sometimes be about either event in her life
@carmas121976 @AmelleKyre @RainbowsGumdrop I see that too! I also feel I Can Do It With A Broken Heart has elements of both relationships too. She’s talking about the concerts after her & MH were done & that broke her heart, but also she was still mourning the end with JA, MH was a distraction that delayed her loneliness
@RainbowsGumdrop Yeah these lyric changes are very intentional imo. It’s a huge contrast to the other chorus in many spots where she can now recognize the criticism was valid but still not right. And she doesn’t want that experience in her new relationship w/ Travis because he’s def good for her
@carmas121976 @AmelleKyre @RainbowsGumdrop What other songs did you feel this way about? Because I am also think so about this theme across the album and this song was the first one I noticed it on!
I think The Manuscript might be the first song she wrote for this #TTPD
It makes sense timeline wise, written after the video/success of ATW10MV. It was the first file name variant she announced, it’s the last song on the entire anthology. It just makes sense to me
I think it’s important to remember that Taylor purposely made this album to be the hyperbolic, dramatic, tragic, tortured version of the subjects she’s talking about in #TTPD some takes on the album are criticizing her for this theme without understand that it’s ON PURPOSE
I really think “I can do it with a broken heart” was written around/after Chicago weekend. Her surprise songs were so sad for all 3 nights. It was around the time things were officially done with MH and I think that gave her more time to feel the loneliness of breakup w/ JA too🥺
I can do it with a broken heart really takes the cake for the most fun songs with the most depressing lyrics😭 and I love how that just adds to the story of the song itself. Probably my fav song on first listen honestly it just blew my mind and made me so sad/uncomfortable😔
This is just crazy interesting to me bc I wonder if any of these songs were written before any midnights songs were written and she just felt like they belonged on a different album. Idk, I would love to know her thought process there and the timeline of her writing
Aaron Dessner posted a photo on IG of Taylor in the recording studio for #TSTTPD The Anthology 🥹
“We started working on these songs over two years ago and it feels like they have kept us company and evolved in beautiful and unexpected ways through so much life lived during this process. It's hard to believe Taylor and I have now recorded over 60 songs together (17 across this anthology!!) in the 4 years since we began working together on Folklore in 2020. I am forever grateful to Taylor for sharing her insane talents with and trusting me with her music. I believe these songs are some of the most lyrically acute, intricate, vulnerable and cathartio Taylor has ever written and I am continually astonished by her skills as a songwriter and performer.”
Her point is to tell everyone to just stop. Let her be in love. Let her make her own decisions. It fits the theme of the album as a whole that these excessive opinions on her life and relationships makes her feel crazy.
I just KNOW there is gonna be so much discourse about if “but daddy I love him” is about Matty or Travis. And honestly as I listened I first thought Matty but then thought Travis. But I’ve come to realize that’s probably on purpose. Bc who it’s officially about isn’t the point
Especially bc these 2 men are way louder than Joe is. And she hates that she has to justify her relationships to the public. She hates all the scrutiny she gets whenever Travis does something “crazy” like his post SB win behavior
