María Fernanda Espinosa hopes to become not just the tenth Secretary General of the United Nations since its inception in 1948.

She wants to become the first female in the role but the former President of the UN General Assembly says that being a woman “is not enough”.

She told CGTN’s Li Jianhua “We need a person that has the leadership qualities, that has integrity, that knows the system very well, all the pillars, not only one of them, but the very complex large agenda of the UN.”

Deeply saddened by the passing of @RovshanMuradov.
Rovshan was much more than the Secretary General of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center. He was one of its architects, a bridge-builder, and the heart of a global community dedicated to dialogue and cooperation.
My heartfelt condolences go to his family, loved ones, and to the entire @NizamiGanjaviIC community. We have lost a dear friend, but his spirit and vision will continue to inspire us.
May he rest in peace.

This is a moment to rebuild: with greater ownership, more action, with the voices of the Global South and middle powers at the table. As discussed at the @MunSecConf, crises should be opportunities for transformation.
