There is no “Sola Scriptura” in Scriptura.

Sola Scriptura is a man-made heresy articulated well over a Millenia after Christ’s Apostles went out to spread the Ekklesia Kata Holos as Our Lord instructed upon His Ascension.

Not only is (1) “Sola Scriptura” not supported in Scripture but it is (2) historically anachronistic.

(1) Sola Scriptura isn’t in Scriptura

⁃2 Peter 1:20 “no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation.”

⁃2 Peter 3:16 “some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.”

I’m pretty much supportive of injecting a healthy dose of skepticism about marriage and family life to young men who naively think a wife is all they need to solve all their issues, but my problem is when those who choose to promote that kind of rhetoric (eg, the Tates or Pearl Davis) ALSO lack any willingness to sacrifice their own sexual desires in the process and thereby *actually* transcend in a spiritually healthy way whatever they think would hold them back in the bond of marriage

If marriage is too limiting for your personal pursuit of excellence, great, then you must also be willing to put to death in your mind, heart, soul, speech, and body your sexual appetite and live a life of perpetual chastity, purity, and virginity.

But if your idea of enjoying that kind of freedom outside of the duties of married life involves feeding your sexual appetite outside the confines of marriage in any way shape or form, then you are just giving up the bondage of marriage and in its place receiving a new kind of bondage with the devil, and you can look forward to domestic life under *his* household for the rest of eternity
