Many single women are causing their own problems, simply by getting the ick or rejecting wise counsel or having unrealistic standards.

These women are gatekeeping their own shame and honor. They bought stock when CAREER was hot. If younger women buy MARRIAGE en masse, the career investor looks utterly shameful. The Poised old woman is trying to protect her honor here by deflecting younger women into buying her stock too

French is all thumbs on his explanation. Evangelicals have less institutional structure than mainlines but that doesn’t “cut [them] loose” anything quite like he describes. Evangelicals see institutions as inhibitive of “just doing things” like reforming the church. It doesn’t mean that they value corporate holiness less, simply by virtue of having fewer or weaker institutions, which is what he is saying they do. It’s just that they see inherent weaknesses in overmuch layering of authority and consultants. French doesn’t, one can infer.

They don’t have “indifferent relationships” to policy, but rather a poltergeist rather than a skeletal (to channel David Bentley hart’s new criterion article) approach to developing church policy.

I know these guys need to eat. Well, French does. But they have published enough fake outrage at right-of-center norms. It has to grow old writing pick-me articles for church ladies and for safe men who, spiritually, are also church ladies.

The arguments against this strategy:

1.) Waiting till your 30s to start a family is sub-optimal for both sides.

2.) Like it or not "high mileage" women are still considered sub optimal.

3.) "Dating up aggressively" makes them sound like whores. Date for optimal match.
