Peter Obi gave out 500 buses to schools in Anambra, he did that 13 years ago. All the buses were manufactured locally by Innoson.

Wike was the Minister of State for Education back then. He personally joined Governor Peter Obi to witness & flag off the distribution of computers, generators, & school buses to all the secondary schools in Anambra State.

Peter Obi donated ₦2.65 billion towards a Microsoft Academy. Then he launched a Microsoft connectivity program. He distributed 30,000 computers (including HP laptops).

He provided thousands of teachers with Microsoft certifications. He bought color printers, generators, & provided internet connectivity to hundreds of schools.

When he talks about investing in education, he means every sense of the word. All these happened as far back as 2013. 🤩🤩

SEPARATING FACTS VS FICTIONS

1.NIGERIA EROSIONS AND WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME [NEWMAP] 2013....

The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) is a World Bank-assisted government initiative designed to reduce vulnerability to soil erosion and land degradation in targeted areas across Nigeria.

This financing Request for this Erosions and Watershed Management Intervention NEWMAP was initiated through a direct diplomatic and executive appeal from the Federal Government of Nigeria to the World Bank.

The project was formally set in motion in 2010 when the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, issued a direct request for assistance to the World Bank Nigeria office. The appeal asked for strategic and financial support to address the severe crisis of gully erosion destroying infrastructure in Southeastern Nigeria, alongside growing land degradation and environmental insecurity in Northern Nigeria

But, the first disbursement and allocations happened in 2013

Anambra was one of the first 7 states selected, and eventually about 23 states benefited from the intervention.

FINANCIND TERMS

The INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION, [IDA ] which is the World Bank’s wing for low-income countries provided the funding.

TOTAL CREDIT ALLOCATION TO NIGERIA was $500million [,Anambra state got $37m allocation],

Interest Rate: ZERO % ....The base loan itself is interest-free.

Service Charge: 0.75% per annum charged on the disbursed and outstanding credit balance.

Commitment Fee: A variable rate between 0% and 0.5% charged only on any undisbursed balance.

Tenor: Concessional repayment terms extending up to 35 to 40 years.

Moratorium: 10-year grace period before principal repayments began. ( Anambra only started repaying this in 2023.]

PROJECTS FUNDS DISBURSMENTS;

Kindly note that the first DISBURSMENTS of USD$4m of this funds was triggered in June 26, 2014. To legally trigger this initial World Bank disbursement, the Anambra State government deposited its first major ₦500 million counterpart fund.

The other DISBURSMENTS happened between 2015 to 2021...

All the USD37m DISBURSMENTS happened under supervision of Willie Obiano, the political godfather of the OJIONU...

CURRENT EROSION STATE OF ANAMBRA STATE .

Anambra State today, has over 1,000 active gully erosion sites, making it the most erosion-ravaged state in Nigeria and frequently described by local officials as the "erosion capital of Africa".

The scale of the destruction is severe, with active gullies now affecting 146 out of the 179 communities in the state. This environmental crisis has eaten up more than 30% of Anambra’s total landmass.

To completely control and remediate all 1,000 plus active erosion sites in Anambra state, it is estimated that hundreds of billions of Naira (over $1 billion USD) would be required.

8 External Loans: As of when Obi left office on 17th March 2014, there were 8 different external borrowings for malaria, erosion control, education, healthcare etc (see attached poster) which the present administration services with hundreds of millions of naira monthly.
