I'm a white, abled, class-privileged settler but try to RT ppl who aren't all those things. And cats.
Je tweet aussi en français.
Just to be clear, there's no training to help you stop hiring a public comms team that takes body cam footage of someone having a panic attack, edits it, writes press releases, & distributes it to local & national media w/ false claims to create a panic to gain support
Saw someone respond police need “better training” to avoid repeatedly making false claims about overdosing on fentanyl and I’m not sure if there’s a clearer illustration of how no matter what they’re doing “give them more money” is always the answer.
@RoseLerner (Speaking as a Chicagoan. I'd assume different countries and even different cities have very different cultures around how much of an at-home holiday Christmas eve is.)
@RoseLerner IME big destination museums are packed around the holidays! Locals want to impress out-of-town visitors, families with kids come in from the suburbs for a day in the city, and people who donated last year-end suddenly remember that their free member passes expire soon.
"Everyone chiming in saying 'If you don’t like it, leave' has no idea how much these employees - who have put so much into their retirement - want to leave, but can’t. The railroads know this & that's why they feel untouchable and as we've witnessed this past year, they are.

"Railroad employees have a separate retirement system from social security & if they resign their position and take a job outside the industry they lose their railroad retirement benefit, thus holding these senior employees hostage in an unfriendly & hostile work environment.

I want to make clear what’s going on here: religious fanatics are marching to try and break into or barricade Manhattan Planned Parenthood. They do this every month. People stand in their way. The police provide an escort to enable people trying to attack the clinic reach it.
your regular reminder that the #CDC is historically not about health or disease eradication but disease control, including but not limited to controlling which communities suffer which diseases in which ways.
@apihtawikosisan Also, the longer-acting versions felt like my brain was stuck in analytic mode all the time and I could never zone out and just daydream or free-associate, but on shorter-acting pills the swings from feeling medicated to not were unsettling.
But YMMV!
@apihtawikosisan No, not really. The impact was more noticeable - it felt like the clarity of a well-timed caffeine hit times 10. But it also made me jittery and anxious, and over time the effectiveness diminished but the side effects didn't (for me).
These three paragraphs from an article about the wave of jail deaths sweeping the United States will teach you more about the criminal punishment system than anything I've ever posted.
@gersandelf My bet: the platform will go through a series of serious setbacks but ultimately continue to exist, but the culture will have changed and it won't be what we currently think of when we say Twitter.
this might sound cynical but i’ve always wondered why no billionaire has singlehandedly funded the halting/reversal of climate change solely for the sake of satisfying their narcissism by being able to say they literally saved the entire human race
@otipemsiw It feels like so much of what's being celebrated about this site was built in spite of its functionality at the time, and works (to the extent that it works) in defiance of the app's fundamental incentives.
"I don't want to rebuild" makes sense. "It's not possible" confuses me.
