for me, teaching while grieving means going to a professional development training and crying during every picture book because i feel so much more sensitive to everyone’s pain, even fictional pain.
i’m praying that this sensitivity makes me a better, more empathetic teacher.

it’s 2023. please stop telling your kids that the best way to deal with another kid bothering them is to “take revenge” 🙃 before they even ask an adult for help 🙃

I reckon one of the best examples of Cognitive Load Theory in practice is the load placed on teachers by Behaviour Management.
Every ounce of concentration taken by BM is a loss in attention devoted to teaching the content. And there is a finite amount of attention available.
