I didn’t realize how deeply I loved and have been influenced by the writing of Anne Rice until just now.
Watching Interview With The Vampire, and I’ve been hit by this crying fit, and it won’t fucking stop.
Yes, I loved her, and all of her books.
I didn’t know how much until now.
So my best friend & I had an amazing day at Twickenham yesterday, but I do want to speak about some men we encountered whilst queueing for the train home, because it is a classic example of the micro aggressions women face every day that is just not ok🙄this is guna be a thread…
Every week, it seems, the London police roll out another technocratic solution that would not have saved Sarah Everard's life because - and this is the part they're desperate to get people to forget - Wayne Couzens was an active police officer and would have passed this measure.
@TraumaPhDandMe I had the worst time of my life doing my PhD. You're definitely not alone. I only started to feel happy again over a year after finishing. I had the worst anxiety of my life and the uncertainty made it harder. You can step away from it for a while to get some clarity. Might help.
The sad realisation that the clocks going back means I’m not going to be walking home from work for the next few months now that everything is shrouded in darkness by 5pm. Love being a woman in winter 🙄
Until we fix casualisation, academia will remain a profession for the elite.
It doesn't matter how many workshops on diversity & inclusion you run- if staff from all backgrounds can't get reliable hours & income, it means nothing. The system is broken.

'Serving Met police officer charged with rape.'
Immensely difficult to see where women can put their trust when news breaks almost weekly of police officers abusing women.

When I was teaching production a few years ago, I devoted an entire class session to industry working conditions, and set safety, sleep, cars, and play guns in student films. Was told in a meeting that I shouldn’t focus on this b/c “what a bummer” “it will discourage students” 🧵
This would not have stopped Wayne Couzens and it won’t stop future officers from being perpetrators of violence either. Technical fixes like this don’t fix the underlying problem. But it’s clear the Met aren’t interested in addressing the underlying problem.
Many women are fixated on the moment that Sarah Everard realised that something was really wrong - because we’ve all felt at times that something *might* be wrong, and then felt the wave of relief when we realise: oh, that man isn’t following us, how silly of me, how paranoid…
We all have a duty to read the victim impact statements from Sarah’s family.
Sarah was a daughter and a sister, killed by #maleviolence in a society that consistently fails to tackle violent men.
Men in positions of power remain protected, women are not.https://t.co/IIquzzhdX6
