@Luas@scorched791 I’m in Belgard now. Waiting a long time and a luas just arrived with the real time info saying it would go to Connolly and then it just terminated. Can you please explain???
Ireland's transport emissions continue to rise...
We urgently need to change the trajectory and one of the quickest and most efficient things we can do, is to get people cycling.
We need to make cycling safer in Ireland, starting tomorrow!

@Luas@BallyerSteve What a joke, there’s been no luas leave Tallaght for the last 25 minutes and counting… and you say the service is operating without delays…
Global temperatures in 2023 are extraordinary.
The various different datasets available all agree on this. We are breaking records by shocking amounts.

As climate-related damages hit, remember that this crisis is not due to generic "human activity". Excess emissions are due overwhelmingly to the core states of the global North, and the ruling classes that control the systems of production, energy and national legislation.
45% of cultivated crops (purple) are used to either make CO2-emitting fuel or feed methane-producing, water-consuming farmed animals for meat production. As crops fail and food demand grows, this percentage will need to drop dramatically. Humans can eat lentils. #climatecrisis

A #heatwave is ongoing in Europe ♨️
➡️Many records 🌡️ have been broken in Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany and #Spain
⬇️As measured by #Sentinel3 🇪🇺🛰️, on 11 July the Land Surface Temperature exceeded 60°C in Extremadura 🇪🇸

Visualisation from @TheEconomist on just how completely unprecedented & extraordinary the new all-time global heat records are.
Where they go next remains to be seen, but with #ElNino kicking in later this year, it’s hard to imagine what’s in the pipeline
“Liveable future crisis”
Millions of us are already being displaced from increasingly unliveable places.
Famine, heatwaves, flooding and intensifying diseases are already the reality.
People’s children will die from this crisis. People alive today will die from this crisis.
@rtenews Isn’t the news here that El Niño is hitting in what is a warmer planet? Why do you not contextualise this report with reference to the combined impact of El Niño plus the impacts of climate change?
This is absolutely bananas.
There is NOTHING like this on the instrumental record. Its likely impact is probably immeasurable.
But is it leading our news bulletins & on newspaper front pages?
Nope.
One of the most severe marine heatwaves on Earth has developed off the coast of Ireland and the UK, with water temperatures as high as 4-5°C above normal.
NOAA's Marine Heatwave Watch has categorized this event as a Category 4 (extreme) marine heatwave.
