Conservator/gilder. I also do some photography. Into art, history, cats, nature, aviation, music, cats, tea... Can quote a lot of Blackadder if the need arises.
Rest in peace Anne Widdecombe. One of Britains last conviction politicians.
I met her once - she looked me up and down and with a look of motherly concern - said.
“Are you sure they won’t take you back into acting?”

The Met Police have paid £25,000 in compensation to Graham Linehan and offered him an unreserved apology.
This comes after Scotland Yard accepted there were “shortcomings in the investigation, the arrest and the imposition of bail conditions”.
Last September, the Father Ted creator was arrested by five armed police officers as he landed at Heathrow Airport over three gender-critical posts he had made on X.
He was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence, detained and questioned for several hours before being rushed to hospital after his blood pressure rose dangerously high.
Graham was released but placed under draconian bail conditions, which initially included a ban on posting on X.
With the support of the Free Speech Union, Graham took legal action against the Met Police for wrongful arrest and breaches of his right to free speech.
Although Graham received an apology in May, he has now also received a £25,000 payout and a further unreserved apology.
In a letter to Mr Linehan, a senior Met officer wrote: “Whilst there can be no doubt that all officers acted in good faith throughout and were seeking to do their best in the circumstances, the investigation identified shortcomings in both the investigation, arrest and imposition of bail conditions.
“We apologise to you for those shortcomings and for the distress and inconvenience which you suffered as a result.”
General Secretary of the Free Speech Union, Lord Young, said: “I’m beginning to lose count of the number of cases we’ve fought in which the police have arrested someone for a tweet, decided to take no further action and then had to pay them substantial compensation for wrongful arrest.
“At some point you’d think the penny would drop: police our streets, not our tweets.”

Hey @waitrose. Please can you identify which people other than women need to use tampons for their periods?
Can you name even one man who needs tampons? One. That's all you need to provide. I'm waiting...
The HS2 saga should be treated as a national scandal, and lead to a fundamental reset in the way infrastructure projects are undertaken in this country. It won't though, because the British public are in thrall to vested interest distractions and never fight the right battles.
From late 2026, synthetic folic acid will be added to almost every loaf of bread, every pack of flour, every pizza base in the UK.
No opt-out. No label warning. No conversation about who it might harm.
Here's what the headlines aren't telling you. 🧵
Record UK temperatures have the media in a tizz – but cleaner air, thinner clouds and natural cycles explain much of the warming, says Andrew Sibley. So why is the popular press ignoring them? https://t.co/TE8OkNHNGw
🚨🇬🇧 The UK government has responded to the petition regarding folic acid in flour.
The UK Government is forcing synthetic folic acid into all non-wholemeal wheat flour from the end of 2026.
This affects 70 million people to supposedly prevent just 200 neural tube defect cases a year.
It’s not just bread it means almost every everyday product made with white or brown flour: pasta, pizza bases, cakes, biscuits, pastries, pies, crackers, and most processed baked goods. Men and children get zero benefit, yet studies have linked higher folic acid intake to increased prostate cancer risk in men.
They’re choosing mass medication of the entire population through our staple foods instead of targeted supplements for women who actually need it.
This is being forced on us without real choice. It will appear in the ingredients list, but there’ll be no clear warning on the front of the pack.
Natural folate from food is one thing this unnatural synthetic chemical is another.
Sign the petition in the comments we need to at least have a debate on this.
Please share with as many people as possible.
Wow, would you look at that…
All of a sudden the NHS has decided people on kidney dialysis are no longer at risk from folic acid just in time for mandatory synthetic folic acid in all non-wholemeal flour from the end of 2026.
Old version (screenshotted earlier this year) clearly listed haemodialysis:
New/current version (the dialysis warning is gone): Convenient timing.
Synthetic folic acid isn’t the same as natural folate. It can build up in people with MTHFR variations, B12 deficiency, cancer, stents, or on dialysis. Studies link higher intake to potential increased prostate/colorectal cancer risks in some groups.
Yet we’re mass-medicating the entire population through bread, pasta, cakes etc.
with very limited opt-out. The pregnancy benefit for a small number of cases is clear but at what cost to everyone else?
Where are the medical professionals on this? You guys took an oath to do no harm we need you guys to push back against this.
Absolute bullshit.
You’re emptying the asylum hotels and “scattering” dangerous men in innocent communities.
All to make yourselves look good while children are put at risk.
Remember Johnny Ball, he made kids programs back in the 80s & 90s about science & the environment..... UNTIL he called out the climate bollox & claimed that schools were brainwashing kids with rubbish. He then got cancelled for some reason. Here's an old clip where he talks about CO2
