What I find interesting about this article is the idea that Armenia’s future should not be defined by having to choose between Russia and Europe, but by building enough independence to have real freedom of choice. That matters economically, politically, and even personally.

As an Armenian citizen, I hope this path eventually makes Armenian citizenship more valuable in practical terms too, more mobility, easier access, and more opportunities.

I’m also Lebanese, and sadly that citizenship has mostly meant the opposite: difficult visa processes, endless paperwork, and constantly having to prove yourself just to travel.

A strong country should ultimately give its citizens more choices, not fewer. I hope Armenia manages to build exactly that.

I don’t usually talk about Lebanese politics because, in my opinion, it’s a hopeless case.
But it makes my blood boil when clueless Westerners look at us and automatically see “defenders of the Palestinian cause.”

My uncle Michel Aoun was a school teacher. He was shot in the head by Palestinian militias during the Chekka massacre simply because he was wearing a cross.

There was never a Palestinian country. It was an Ottoman territory that never materialized into a state. Like it or not, that’s the historical reality.

You want to “free Palestine”? Take Greta’s flotilla and go do it yourselves. Don’t lecture us from the comfort of your countries ..the same countries that normalized relations with Israel ..about how we should accept isolation and let Lebanon, once known as the Paris of the Middle East, turn into another third-world disaster.

Palestine is not my problem. It never was. And it never will be.

These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries.

Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a $28 an hour contractor welding job in 2015. He says he didn't even know what SpaceX was. The company gave him a $10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000.

Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the $135 listing price that's $13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous."

The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before.

Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.

🚩 Peace with Israel is the single most terrifying word in Lebanese politics, not because it threatens Lebanon, but because it threatens every faction that has built its empire on the permanent absence of it.

I have watched this country for decades, and I will tell you what no one on a podium has the courage to say: the people who oppose peace are not protecting Lebanon; they are protecting their own relevance. Hezbollah cannot exist without the “enemy” at the gate. Iran cannot justify its corridor to the Mediterranean without a front line that never closes. And every warlord turned statesman who laundered a militia past into a cabinet future needs permanent instability the way a parasite needs a host.

That is why they prefer death over peace. Not Lebanese death, which has never cost them a single sleepless night, but the death of the system that feeds them. Christians watched their presidency hollowed into a rubber stamp issued from Dahiyeh. Sunnis watched Rafik Hariri assassinated and his political heirs forced to coexist with the architecture of his assassination. The Druze watched their autonomy reduced to a phone call from a handler. Every community outside Hezbollah’s orbit has been living under undeclared occupation disguised as national unity, and the absence of peace is the lock on the cage.
Sixty years of rejectionism didn’t liberate a square meter, didn’t build a single power plant, and didn't secure a future. It buried 200,000 people, bankrupted a nation, exiled a generation, and delivered total strategic control to a militia that answers to Tehran and calls it sovereignty.

Anyone still defending this isn’t a patriot. They are either an operative, or a hostage so conditioned by captivity that they have mistaken the warden for a guardian.

This is why peace isn’t just a diplomatic position; it is the single act capable of collapsing the entire architecture of Lebanese captivity. The moment the war justification disappears, Hezbollah loses its veto, Iran loses its last ideological foothold on the Mediterranean, and every political actor in Beirut is forced to stand naked, stripped of the conflict they’ve hidden behind for half a century.

And then, only then, the Lebanese can finally have the conversation that’s been strangled since Taif: what does this country actually look like when no one holds a gun to the table? Perhaps it’s federalism. Perhaps it’s partition. Perhaps it’s a model no one has written yet. But that conversation is impossible as long as one armed faction holds the permanent right to override every community in the name of a resistance that resists nothing except Lebanon’s own survival.

The opponents of peace know this perfectly well. They know that the day Lebanon signs, their operating myth dies. That’s why they will fight it with every tool they have: religious guilt, nationalist shame, sectarian fear. Because peace doesn’t just end a conflict with Israel; it starts a reckoning with them. And they would rather bury another generation than face that reckoning.

Enough. The absence of peace has already cost Lebanon everything except its last heartbeat, and the men who caused it are now asking for more time. They’ve had a century. The answer is no.

تكمن الإشكالية الكبرى في أن الخطاب اللبناني يتعامل مع "ولاية الفقيه" ك��رجعية دينية تقليدية تشبه "الفاتيكان" لدى الكاثوليك، وهذا خطأ معرفي فادح. فولاية الفقيه المطلقة تتجاوز الإرشاد الروحي، إلى "نظام حكم" ��ياسي وعسكري واقتصادي أممي يفرض طاعة عمياء فوق الحدود الوطنية حتى الحدود الشيعية نفسها (باعتبار أن الفقيه هو ولي المسلمين جميعًا وليس الشيعة حصرًا)

في القرن العاشر الهجري (السادس عشر الميلادي)، شهدت المنطقة تحولًا دراماتيكيًا عندما قرر الصفويون تحويل إيران من المذهب السني إلى المذهب الشيعي الإثني عشري. ونظرًا لافتقار بلاد فارس آنذاك للكوادر العلمية والفقهية، كان علماء جبل عامل هم "المنقذ" والمؤسس الفعلي للبنية الدينية والقضائية للدولة الصفوية الجديدة. لقد هاجر كبار الفقهاء من لبنان، وعلى رأسهم المحقق الكركي (علي بن الحسين بن عبد العال)، الذي أصبح "الفقيه الأول" الذي طبق عمليًا بذور نظرية ولاية الفقيه، حيث منحه الشاه "طهماسب" صلاحيات شبه مطلقة باعتباره "نائب الإمام المعصوم" في الغيبة الكبرى. (حوالي 450 سنة قبل ثورة الخميني)

وبالتالي، فإن الحديث عن "فك ارتباط" الشيعة اللبنانيين بولاية الفقيه (التي اتسعت صلاحياتها تدريجًا حتى الخميني) هو طرح نظري يفتقر للواقعية. فالعلاقة ليست تحالفًا سياسيًا بين حزب ودولة، بل هي "ذوبان هوياتي" جعل من البيئة الشيعية في لبنان جزءًا عضويًا من البنية التحتية الإيرانية في المنطقة.

ومع العلم أن التشيّع في لبنان محلّي وهو أقدم بكثير من التشيّع الصفوي، فإن إيران أعادت صياغة التشيع اللبناني ليصبح "تشيعًا أمميًا" (نسبة للولاء للفقيه)، وهو ما يعني أن الانفصال عن إيران يتطلب عملية "تطهير عقدي" واجتماعي قد تستغرق أجيالاً، وهو أمر غير متاح لا سيّما مع الإرهاب والتكفير الذي يتعرض له بعض رجال الدين الشيعة المعارضين من بيئة ال��زب ومن رجال دين آخرين موالين للتشيع الإيراني.

إذا سلمنا بأن فك الارتباط العقدي بين السواد الأعظم من الشيعة وولاية الفقيه هو أمر غير ممكن حاليًا، وإذا كانت "الدولة الواحدة" تفترض "ولاءً واحدًا" وجيشًا واحدًا وسياسة خارجية واحدة، فإن نظام لبنان اليوم يفتقد لكل هذه المقومات وشعبه لا يحتمل سياسات ترقيعية لا تنهي الأزمة.

لذا، يبرز طرح "الفدرالية" كآلية واقعية لإدارة الانقسام بدلاً من إنكاره وتلميعه بخطاب رومانسي (عيش مشترك، لبنان رسالة، وحدة وطنية...).

أما طرح "إلغاء الطائفية" فهو إشكالي بحد ذاته، لأنه يمسّ جوهر عقد المواطنة القائم على التوازن الطائفي في ��ظام لبنان الكبير. حتى المقترحات الإصلاحية، كإنشاء مجلس شيوخ لنقل التمثيل الطائفي إليه، لا تعالج أصل الأزمة. هي تنقلها من مجلس النواب إلى مؤسسة أخرى دون تفكيكها.

The majority of Lebanon’s intellectuals are shallow, poorly read, unaware of regional and global affairs, and simply parrot Western media propaganda or disseminate Hezbollah propaganda in English, believing it makes them patriotic by Western standards.

No in-depth knowledge, no deep thinking, no original arguments. A real disappointment.
