@gabrielpeyre Assuming it's a CSR, and in canonical format (when unsure, `mat.sum_duplicated()`), then you can get the sparse maximum with `rows, values = mat._minor_reduce(numpy.maximum)`. Then it's easy to fill the missing values with whatever like -inf
