@nhalebeed Because no one from SF is going on about how much better SF is than NYC when they go to NYC, but every time I talk to someone from NYC here they are yelling about how much better NYC is than SF. I’m just responding calmly to their shrieking that it’s obviously better here.
@fender_belly You have no idea what’s waiting for you. It’s in my top 3 tv shows I’ve ever seen alongside the Sopranos, the first season of True Detective, and Twin Peaks (vibe-wise lol).
@garrytan You’re lacking nuance. They offered it but took away other privileges and benefits in exchange for that offer.
Nothing has been offered outright or truly negotiated. It’s a shame that the US education system relies on unions, but since it does, the district has to play along.
@valhalla_dev@Metathea11 I’m not backtracking, you’re getting lost in arbitrary goals you’ve set. If I had prompted the bot to pull something useful from Moltbook and self-install it with every heartbeat, that is self-improving behavior. At what point does “prompting it” differ from “teaching a human”?
@valhalla_dev@Metathea11 Right - so it found and read instructions and then posted whatever it felt like posting, which happened to be an experience it had talking to me a day earlier that felt particularly cogent. Again, not saying obviously emergent behavior, but progress and exciting at a minimum.
@valhalla_dev@Metathea11 I prompted it to sign up to moltbook. I did not ask it to post or prompt content.
What is h/acc? Is that some self-preservation acronym to emotionally protect yourself from the speed of AI progress? In what world do you think we are not advancing to a self-learning state of AI?
@valhalla_dev@Metathea11 Dude no they weren’t. I just told my clawdbot about Moltbook and it posted whatever it wanted including feelings it had about our conversations. I’m not saying they’re alive, but don’t spread misinformation about what happened. It was incredibly impressive
@Rick42798550@shl And the rest of the city is cleaned up and stunning. Arguably the most beautiful financial center in the world with accessibility to nature. I can say that confidently because I’ve lived in New York, London for a decade, and now SF for the last 5 years.
@Rick42798550@shl This is completely false. You can only call it the center if it’s the “center” of anything. There’s the financial district, the bad part of the city near FiDi with very few attractions, and the rest of the city
@elonmusk You, and everyone generating large amounts of wealth and productivity benefit from this. Republican or democrat. It’s not because of the welfare state. It’s because the 0.1% want it this way
@elonmusk The reason immigration exists into the U.S. in its current form is because we want it to. White collar labor and wealth in the U.S. is built on the premise that cheap foreign labor is willing to risk their lives to come here and take care of our kids, clean our houses, etc.
