This is why women choose the bear. Imagine going to this police department because you need help and think the police will protect you and instead make officers are using their databases to look up your personal information to track you down afterwards because they want to sleep with you. There’s literally nowhere a woman can go without being at risk of a running into a male predator. Not even police stations.
They knew exactly who Mona Khalil was.
They knew the bright orange house in Mansouri, south Lebanon. They knew it was not a military site, not a command center, not a battlefield position. It was one of the most recognizable symbols of environmental conservation on Lebanon's southern coast; a sanctuary dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles and preserving life.
Mona spent her years defending the most vulnerable creatures of the Mediterranean, teaching generations that every life matters, that nature is not a casualty to be discarded, and that humanity has a duty to protect what cannot protect itself.
Yet the same orange house that stood as a beacon of conservation became a target for terrorist Israel.
This was an assault on a woman whose life's work was devoted to safeguarding life itself. A woman known internationally for her environmental activism, whose name had become synonymous with the protection of Lebanon's coastline and its endangered sea turtles.
The murder of Mona Khalil sends a chilling message: even those whose only weapon is compassion, whose only mission is preservation, are not spared.
I’m sick and tired of people mocking those who care about the planet. Clean air matters. Living forests matter. Healthy oceans matter. Animals matter. Biodiversity matters. Wanting a livable world for future generations should not be controversial.
“women are just as bad as men.”
okay. then show me men being gang assaulted by women at scale.
show me adult women running trafficking networks for men.
show me laws built to control men’s bodies.
show me spaces where women routinely prey on men.
and when men start living in fear of gender-based violence the way women do, we can have that conversation.
Women have been saying for years that there is a growing backlash against gender equality, and every time the conversation comes up we’re told we’re imagining it.
Now the United Nations is saying it.
According to a UN report, nearly 1 in 4 countries reported setbacks in women’s rights and gender equality. Hundreds of millions of women and girls are living in conflict zones, violence against women remains widespread, and UN officials are warning about a growing backlash against women’s rights worldwide.
The part that stands out to me isn’t even the statistics. It’s that women have been raising concerns about misogyny, online hostility toward women, violence, and attacks on reproductive rights for years, only to be dismissed as overreacting.
If the UN Secretary-General is warning about the “mainstreaming of misogyny,” maybe it’s time to stop pretending these concerns came out of nowhere.
Do you think women’s rights are genuinely facing setbacks, or do you think organizations like the UN are exaggerating the problem?
i'm genuinely flabbergasted by how many people believe it's better for a child to be born into starvation, abuse, neglect, illness, & poverty than not be born at all
Afghan women have to kill the men.
Everyone keeps reacting to this statement as if it’s a joke, but it is literally the only way out of their situation.
Afghan women need to kill as many of the men as possible.
The men in the Taliban.
And the men not in the Taliban who are benefiting from their suffering.
Everyone praises slave rebellions.
Slaves are called upon to overthrow their oppressors.
Why does nobody recognise female slavery when it is staring them in the face?
Afghanistan practices Female Slavery by law.
In Afghanistan, men are the Slave Masters.
The only path to freedom for Afghan women is not international pressure which has proven useless, it is for Afghan women to rebel and kill their slave masters.
@mrwtffacts It is not heroic. It is terrible that women without access to proper health services has to endure this kind of situations. Women in rural or from indigenous communities are still suffering the lack of proper health reproductive services.
Between Iraq changing the age of consent from 18 to 9, conservatives in the US tweeting "YOUR BODY, MY CHOICE", one of Gisele Pelicot's abusers justifying his behaviour by saying "I thought she was dead" and women in Sudan taking their own lives to avoid being r@ped by paramilitary fighters…. If you still can't grasp just how many men hate women, you're not listening.
men will write 32 page dissertations on how casual sex destroys a woman’s mental state and ability for a relationship but argue that rape isn’t traumatizing and you can just get over it
Today I learned a term called
"Parentification Debt": When a child is forced to emotionally parent their own parent, they develop advanced skills in reading others but fall behind in understanding themselves. The debt comes due in adulthood when they realize they can manage everyone's feelings except their own.
The tree in the picture is a giant sequoia tree that was there before Jesus was born, it was older than the Roman Empire.
Before the criminal settler orcs from Europe arrived the old growth had trees that were 300 feet tall and 35 feet wide. Most of them were 2000-3000 years old.
After california gold rush the greedy logging companies started to cut down these trees. Each tree would cause a little earthquake when it fell. About 95% of these majestic trees were lost.
The funny part? The sequoia tree wood was quite brittle and a huge portion of it was wasted by loggers. Most of it shattered on impact or were burned by loggers.
The crimes of European settlers their destruction of nature is not talked about enough
