After over 4 years of dedicated service to Lake County, Illinois, K9 Axel has reached the end of his active duty career. The goal is to give him a peaceful retirement at home with his handler and family that he has been accustomed to. Axel is a 6 year old German Shepherd who loves his family, playing fetch, going on walks, and napping on his comfy bed.

He has been unable to do this since the Lake County Sheriff is not allowing his handler to adopt him even after retiring him. (Attempting to put in another agency even though he’s retirement age). He has been kept in a kennel for 3 months while the lawsuit plays out. @k9_retired @hurricane_k9
