My children were failed by mainstream schools, it wasnโt just training or lack of resource - It was the inflexibility of the National curriculum, the overwhelming environment and the lack of nurturing & understanding. No amount of training can change this #EHCP#SEND@UKLabour
Listening to BBC coverage of SEND news makes you realise how poorly understood the sector is.
EHCP are reviewed annually already.
An EHCP does not get you a taxi to school.
Any funding needs dividing between many thousands of schools (equal to 2 TAs in an average secondary).
Currently the UK Government does NOT recognise dyscalculia as learning difficulty.
Dyscalculia affects 6% of the UK populationโฆ
Iโm ready to educate you and so is the dyscalculia community.
Labour is rising to the generational challenge of properly supporting children with SEND.
We will set out our vision and ambition for a schools system where every child can achieve and thrive.

Letโs make Dyscalculia Day impossible to ignore. Letโs tell the stories that havenโt been told. Letโs give Dyscalculia the recognition and understanding it has been denied for far too long.
Dyscalculia Day should be taken seriously in the media. Dyscalculia needs you. I want to be on every morning, afternoon and evening television show talking about Dyscalculia on Dyscalculia Day. The narrative should be told by the people who live and breathe it.
Shocking recent research from Shift Insight reports only 4% ( four out of every one hundred) teachers feel very well prepared to teach a pupil with #dyscalculia. This is why events like #dyscalculiaday are so important because #dyscalculiamatters
Very exciting day for the dyscalculia community. It was great to speak to two important people in the government about the issues in the education system. Letโs hope change is slowly happening, good things are coming ๐
Cat and three brilliant members of the adult advisory board, Emily, Amelia, and Emily joined Baroness Barran and Baroness Bull today at the House of Lords to discuss #dyscalculia awareness and to advocate for change!
