Our #SpotlightZebrafish this week is on Emily Read (@emilyreadd), a PhD student with @RobertHindges@KingsCollegeLon. Her research is focused on genetically modeling schizophrenia in #zebrafish. Emily utilizes various behavioral assays to assess phenotypes of mutant larvae. She developed a novel locomotion-based prepulse inhibition assay that assesses a larva’s ability to gate sensory information from the environment. To learn more about this assay and it’s application, check out her recent publication here: https://t.co/w6loMJ3ZLb.
. @CaitlinHouseago presenting her poster on her @NC3Rs funded PhD project to establish an assessment pipeline in #zebrafish to screen risk genes for major depressive disorder. Great to see such engagement in her first conference as PhD student.
Our new paper ist out. We established a new assay to assess PPI in #zebrafish larvae simply through locomotion. Very helpful for our work to characterise models of neurodev disorders. Congrats to @emilyreadd Great start into her 2nd PhD year @MRC_CNDD@dev_neuro@KingsIoPPN
And from now on it is DR Olivia Simmonds. Huge congratulations to pass your PhD viva. Amazing work. Thanks to the examiners Caroline Brennan @Dan10R3r10 and Paul Kasher. @dev_neuro@MRC_CNDD@KingsIoPPN
Check out our newest preprint describing the establishment of a simple locomotion-based assay to measure Prepulse Inhibition in zebrafish larvae. Congrats to @emilyreadd for her work @dev_neuro@MRC_CNDD@KingsIoPPN and thanks to @_zantiks for the help. https://t.co/w1HIC0XA4O
Thanks to the organisers for such an amazing event! Really showcased how supportive and collaborative everyone is at @dev_neuro. Looking forward to 2024
Congratulations to our best poster and short talk awards @noah_leibold@DrShabanaKhan Alexis Cooper and @emilyreadd during our @dev_neuro scientific retreat. A very fitting end to a great 2 days of science and discussions with all centre members. Can’t wait for 2024 @KingsIoPPN
Our next #LondonZebrafishClub meeting is just around the corner! 🤩 Join us this Friday at 3pm at @KingsCollegeLon to hear about exciting 🦓🐟 projects and connect with the London zebrafish community!!
First meeting in 3 years for the London Zebrafish Committee! So great to see so many people and can’t wait to see you all again in 2 months 🐠🐠
Thank you to @zwitscherarmin@SuppAnya@WilcocksonScott and Simon Hughes for the excellent presentations
Sunny day in London presenting results from my third rotation project looking at stress responses in larval zebrafish. Thank you for having me @RobertHindges! Looking forward to continuing with my PhD 🧠 #KingsCollegeLondon#phdlife
Last year my friend Nicole was murdered in a park, by a stranger, and the police officers took selfies next to her body so pls can we defund the police and let women live.
I need all these Oxford colleges to realise that celebrating how many years its been since they decided to let women in isn't the flex they think it is
