@jenniferleighs me assuming what you meant, is the same as assuming people are doing that for clout. moral of the story is assuming causes problems all around.
@jenniferleighs i think it was that your og tweet didn’t include things on clout or how it ruins it for others, just general self-diagnosing of adults. being part of that group, your tweet made me feel invalidated. i know thats not on you to manage, but i just wanted to shed light on the -
@jenniferleighs i agree, those doing it for clout ruin it for everyone else as it leads to individuals with your mindset. but as i said, your comment invalidates everyone who is not doing it for that reason. you’re entitled to your words, but be mindful that they can come across as ignorant.
@jenniferleighs them attempting to improve their life should be looked at as a positive thing not a negative. as well, with research you can see that science is learning more about these brain types than ever before. what they’ve been finding has been life changing for many. it’s a good thing.
@jenniferleighs yes and no, i think the problem is that the diagnosis process can be very difficult/time consuming if you don’t have the right doctor. some people don’t have the mental energy for that unfortunately. but at the end of the day, what does that have to do with you and your life?
@jenniferleighs if they’re doing it for clout, they’re the problem. if you’re assuming they’re doing it for clout, you’re the problem. when you make a comment as you did, you invalidate everyone within that group including the ones who are doing it for themselves. as i’m sure most are!
@jenniferleighs i self-diagnosed myself with adhd and began researching methods to improve myself. months later i was diagnosed by a doctor. id have less progress in my growth if i had waited for a doctor to tell me what i already knew.
@jenniferleighs it’s more helpful for those individuals to self-diagnosis & have a general idea of their brain type/therapy tools to better themselves while waiting for the diagnostic process. would you prefer they continue to suffer rather than find means to better themselves? be empathetic.
used to scream/hyperventilate along to our lady peace’s 4am “and i hope to god i figure out what’s wrong.” now i scream/hyperventilate with happiness along to that song because i now know im #actuallyautistic
