The City Commission has concluded its discussion surrounding the homelessness issue in the Lawrence community. It has moved into its executive session. #J415A
A few community members have stuck around to listen to the update on homelessness and hear public comments from community members. Nancy Snow talked about her sacrifices to help the homeless community, including buying patio heaters and passing out burgers. #J415A
The City Commissioners are now addressing the agenda item surrounding 'the City's ongoing efforts and future vision for ending chronic homelessness in our community.' This is part of City Manager Craig Owens' report. #J415A
The City Commission has decided that they will not go forth with funding the Wakarusa Extension, however, they will still provide the funding to KDOT and work with the county on finding an alternate project to work on with that money. #J415A
The City Commissioners have heard several public comments, and have been on the topic of the Wakarusa Extension Project for two hours. The commissioners need a deciding vote as they are currently split. They are waiting on Amber Sellers' decision. #J415A

In the next year, Lawrence businesses need to:
- Grow/shrink its workforce (63%)
- Expand business physically (35%)
- Relocate within Lawrence (21%)
- Permanently close (10%)
- Relocate outside of Lawrence (8%)

The survey collected 308 responses from businesses in Lawrence
Summary of findings:
- 49% of businesses consider Lawrence 'business friendly' (5% margin of error)
- The overall feeling of safety was a big concern for businesses. Particularly in zip codes 66046 and 66044

A Lawrence citizen who has given multiple public comments is voicing his concern over the percentage at which change orders are being increased. He claims that property taxes have gone up for the residents and renters of Lawrence because of the increases in change orders. #J415A
There have been multiple public comments from Lawrence residents surrounding the issue of homelessness within the city. Many voiced their frustration with the agenda item surrounding homelessness being pushed to the end of the City Commission meeting. #J415A
