Florence Osawamick hails from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. Born in Peterborough and now residing in Hastings, she has devoted her life to embracing Anishinaabe culture through song, dance, and ceremony.
From the Wiikwemkoong Unceded territory, Marian Jacko is a trailblazer in Indigenous law, child advocacy, and sport. As president of the Little Native Hockey League and the first Indigenous Director appointed to Hockey Canada's Board, she has championed the rights of Indigenous youth and families.
Chief Wilton (Willie) Littlechild is a residential school survivor and a global advocate for Indigenous rights. A former Grand Chief of the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations and Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, he has dedicated over 30 years to Indigenous reconciliation, including serving at the United Nations.
It was an absolute honour having trailblazers and Indigenous rights advocates, Marian Jacko and Chief Wilton Littlechild, drop the puck at our first Indigenous Heritage Unity Night! 🙌
Interested First Nations within Ontario are encouraged to apply for funding through the First Nations Prosecution Pilot to support the prosecution of their own laws.
