Ik word racist genoemd. Extremist. Fascist. Nazi. Dus laten we het concreet maken. Zoek in alles wat ik ooit geschreven heb één zin waarin ik beweer dat het ene volk minder waard is dan het andere. Eén zin over ras. Over bloed. Over huidskleur. Over wie er op grond van zijn afkomst minder mens zou zijn.

Je vindt het niet. Want ik heb het nooit geschreven, ik heb het nooit gevonden en ik zal het nooit schrijven.

Ik zeg het tegenovergestelde: de Koerd is een volk en mag bestaan. De Palestijn, de Catalaan, de Marokkaan, de Turk, de Surinamer… allemaal volken, allemaal met een geschiedenis, een cultuur, een recht om te blijven wie ze zijn. Ik heb er nooit één boven een ander gezet. Voor mij staan ze naast elkaar, gelijk.

Het enige wat ik eraan toevoeg is dit: de Nederlander hoort óók in dat rijtje. Als één volk tussen de volken, met precies hetzelfde recht om te bestaan en te blijven bestaan als alle andere. En zich daartoe te verdedigen.

En dáár, op dat ene punt, breekt de hel los: omdat ik weiger mijn eigen volk als enige uit dat rijtje te schrappen. Dat is het hele misdrijf. Niet dat ik anderen minder maak, maar dat ik onszelf niet kleiner wil maken dan de rest.

En dat is wat ik links nooit zal vergeven: dat het de mond vol heeft over inclusie, over diversiteit, over “iedereen hoort erbij” en dan precies één groep aanwijst die zichzelf moet wegdenken om fatsoenlijk te heten. Jullie hebben het inclusiefste vaandel van allemaal, en in de kleine lettertjes staat: behalve de Nederlander.

Jullie zijn niet tegen uitsluiting. Jullie hebben alleen besloten wie er uitgesloten mag worden.

Dus noem mij nog één keer een nazi. En lever er deze keer het bewijs bij.
