I don't want to be the "back in MY day" guy, but circa 2010 if felt like we had a huge back-channel of tweeting to engage in presentations and make connections. Is that asynchronous virtual #minnebar community connecting elsewhere, or did it disappear?
Not a "lament" but an observation and question: Where do today's "social conversations" happen? An hour in, and I could count all the #MinneBar "tweets" without taking off my shoes at #Minnebar20 - how do strangers become "digital friends" these days?
Biggest question of the day: Are we going to use the #minnebar hashtag or the #minnebar20 one? :) Either way, I'll be there. What a great tradition for the MSP community!
@joethornton@DeRushaJ Same, Joe - that's the first thing I thought of. (Except for me it was heard on the old GE tube radio that we kept in the pantry, tuned to 830. I still have it in my den.)
@bozlawpa@noedenelsewhere Same. Illegal here now, but legal in his state at the time. Rebuked by his Elder board here when his past was discovered, but supported by hundreds who said "Well, she was 18!" (It split the church and today he has a thriving congregation elsewhere.)
Okay, I think I got things figured out and if this works, color me impressed with @backblaze - before failing, my drive lost about 90% of its content. I think I got lucky but it'd have been easier if I had flipped that year-long retention switch sooner! :)
Pro tip: if you're a @backblaze customer make sure you've checked the box for free one-year retention (the default is 30 days). My secondary drive died around 33 days ago (and I missed the "drive unavailable" email). Oh, well. I have most of the family photos elsewhere too. :/
@ChrisLongKSTP@DeRushaJ Great minds think alike - my first thought was the smoked salmon options at Northern Waters Smokehaus. (To be fair to the question, I've not actually made a special trip just for it... but every time I'm in Duluth I get it.)
@DeRushaJ@webster Catholic priests who are hearing formal confessions are typically exempt from reporting, so there might be some studies on the outcomes of that practice? (No, we can't set up a system of "Step 1: Become Catholic..." but I'm just thinking there might be data for Tony's example?)
The big question is whether we're under the #minnebar hashtag or the #minnebar19 hashtag... or has today's social conversation moved to other sites? Regardless, @minnestar rocks! What a great tradition here in MSP!
@oldreepicheep This all stems from that reading of Acts 20:28 there. I've seen Elder boards turn sexual predators loose on the community based on that. ("Our four walls define the flock; others can fend for themselves. No need to care about children of God who aren't on our membership list!")
@jaredcwilson I watched a church follow nearly every step but they kept it all secret as their disqualified pastor turned around and stared a new church. If you didn't receive the private member letter, you'd not know that his Elders disciplined his ongoing remorseless and unrepentant conduct.
