@Swilua Still Life by Sarah Winman. A truly excellent and immersive audio book read brilliantly by the author which makes the setting and characters come to life
@ohwitchplease @queerasfact is a meticulously researched, respectful, and fabulously engaging podcast about queer history/historical figures/media/artefacts. I have learnt so much listening to this podcast and it has a lovely 'hanging out with friends' vibe
@HillaryKelly Last summer I won a $50(AUD) voucher to the local independent bookshop in my library's adult reading program. Had great fun finding and reading books that fit the challenges (eg. yellow cover) and crossing squares off my matrix
@thatsironical We've developed a culture where politicians admitting they don't know something, or admitting that they learnt some new information and changed their mind, is seen as taboo, and that's a really dangerous way to be. Part of why I can't watch Q&A without it damaging my health...
Interested to read the full article. Suspect that the type and quality of interactions happening on screens, particularly on social media, may have an impact. Glad that it's been clarified that there is nothing inherently bad about screen-use.
A long time coming but thrilled that our international collaboration is now published looking at screen media & #mentalhealth with the key finding that across studies evidence suggests that screen media plays little role in mental health concerns

@JocelynBrewer @FionaMartinMP School counsellors certainly have more than "some psychological training" (may have shouted something rude when I read that). Unfairly characterising each other's qualifications isn't helpful and collaboration is needed by governing bodies to address critical shortages
@Aviducker As a psychologist working in schools, who had A LOT of feelings when re-reading OotP recently that I hadn't had on previous reads, it was super engaging, validating, and I had a great time. Also made me feel pretty positive about my job
@SullyKathleen@SuzieSiegel@WomenReadWomen It did occur but not how it's been popularly reported. 911 didn't exist yet, neighbours did call the police, added complication regarding the LGBTQIA community and their treatment by police at the time. Full story is fascinating. I suggest looking into it if you're interested.
@ohwitchplease @hkpmcgregor Dumbledore straight up ignores him! Symptoms aren't as present in future books like what he experienced was something he could just 'get over' even though his trauma only accumulates. And I can't find words strong enough to describe Umbridge...
@hkpmcgregor @ohwitchplease I used to hate OotP for Harry being "moody and dramatic" but on my recent re-read as an adult with 11 years study/experience in counselling/psych I was overwhelmed by the PTSD symptoms. He meets DSM5 criteria, I checked, & the awful thing is he gets no help to manage his trauma!
@TheBestEducator@cpaterso @HapevillePrin The dedication, passion, creativity and sense of fun you must bring to education is phenomenal!!! Your class and their families and your colleagues are all incredibly fortunate to work with you
@GenePark Paid for most of my textbooks and made French culture much more accessible. The new version can also be used for a first aid course and equipment for those studying trade diplomas. Great way to make sure education and culture are accessible to all - wish we had it in Australia!
