Woke up to my cat conducting a full security sweep of the apartment at 3am. Not running, just walking with purpose and volume. She’s out here protecting us from threats only she can perceive. I feel safer already.
We had a really mean python at work and I gave him back to his owner and was like “he was trying to kill me” and his owner said “well, he only has so many ways to interact with the world. All he has is a face” and it Moved Me
so much of the pleasure of having a cat is getting to watch this creature make decisions that will always be at least partially inscrutable to you. it's such a pleasure, inexhaustibly fascinating because cats can't speak or explain. like why did you go over there
I highly recommend owning a cat because it makes every bad feeling a little easier to deal with. It's hard to feel the full weight of life's problems when a little weirdo is sprinting around your house like it's training for the Olympics.
