Very excited to head to the @AOA_ortho OWL event in Sydney today! I think it will be a great pick me up on this rainy Saturday. Very excited to meet successful #womeninorthopaedics and get to know other juniors in positions like me!
💊Opioids at discharge after surgery:

This is the reality of being a doctor in a system that fails to value its own,
One that stigmatises asking for help,
One that has so few staff it can't support those that are there.
This is the story of too many doctors.
@Imi_cycles The first time I had it I actually made it when I moved to Aus for medschool…. I kind of adore it 😅 but lots of fruit and a tart coulis to balance out the sweetness yummm
Did you know?
If a patient goes into the hospital and is diagnosed with a twisted and dying ovary (ovarian torsion) there is no surgical billing code for the procedure to untwist it?
But there sure is for testicular torsion.
less than two years ago everything turned blue and yellow overnight. every website I went to, every logo, every app, every institution. billboards, light displays. blue and yellow for ukraine. blue and yellow. and for palestine, for gaza, just darkness
An amazing piece of work on JMO wellbeing promoted at #Prevoc23. Baking, yoga and social events can only do so much if service, rota and training are in disarray.
Was referred to as “the little Doctor in pink” the other day, 🥰 pinch me.
The learning curve has been steep and I am very tired but I’m living a little girl’s dream - and wearing pink while I do it 💕
#WomenInMedicine
Seeing how much the world accepts that it’s impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.
It's always so telling that these equations are built as "Black" vs. "Non-Black."
Racism in medicine doesn't end in medicine. It permeates throughout all facets of society.
Coffee Story
I bought the same cup of coffee everyday from the corner shop in downtown LA. Large cup, light cream, no sugar.
They looked up as I walked in, started grinding the beans.
I grabbed a cup before my 1-way flight to Texas. My last week of fellowship; didn’t say Bye.
@fatima_medic Yes and if it’s okay with you I’d like to examine your x, y, z.
Yes and, at this point I would take the patients vitals.
Yes and…. This is the only way I can describe OSCEs from now on.
Even in the US, I avoid wasting sutures or opening a disposable item unless I'm sure I'm going to use it. I know the money I save for a fundamentally dysfunctional system is probably undetectable but the frame of mind is not.
“Scientists don’t set out to prove their theories but to disprove them to destruction” “it is only by the possibility of its being disproved thats it’s a scientific theory” I think that’s a really good way to think about research 🤔 #NSAASM

Exposure is a prerequisite to interest. A big part of creating #equity is providing access to experiences. #MedEd#DEI
Before we make longterm plans based on mentees' current interests, we must consider, how much exposure have they had? #mentorship
Shoutout to my girl friends. Medical school brought me many things but they have become my most important (partner too ofc).
After 2 months away these 3 ladies plotted to surprise me at the airport. After a full day of placement they showed up to shower me with love.
