The aim of the event was, not only to launch the book, but to develop policy recommendations which we will share with the Minister and his Department. Thank you to everyone who spoke, attended and participated in making yesterday’s event such a success. 5/5
Yesterday’s ‘Mental Health in Higher Education’ event and book launch at @RIAdawson was one to remember.
The event was launched by Minister James Lawless @lawlessj, @DeptofFHed, who set a thoughtful and encouraging tone for the afternoon. 1/5
The evening finished with the launch of my new open access book ‘Irish University Students with Mental Health Difficulties'. I am particularly grateful to @MsetfiLab, @deirdre_desmond and @mshevlin23 who all spoke with warmth and depth about the book, its subject and impact. 4/5
I have the great privilege of hosting a seminar entitled ‘Mental Health in Higher Education: Opportunities, Challenges and Supports’ in the Royal Irish Academy on the 31st of March. With a wonderful keynote, expert panel and book launch, it’s set to be a great day. 1/2
Delighted to receive a copy of this book on “spaces of mental health and wellbeing” in the post.
The wonderful Dr Sheena Hyland and I contributed a chapter on how the university as a lived space shapes students’ experiences and understandings of distress.
Thrilled to start a new role today as Assistant Professor in mental health in the Department of Psychology, @MaynoothUni. I look forward to working with new colleagues and continuing my teaching and research in mental health, belonging and hermeneutic phenomenology.
How might Santy fit down the chimney? How fast does he need to travel? How many presents do the elves have to make? And might weather affect his journey? Tune to @RTERadio1 this Friday morning: I’ll be chatting to Claire Byrne.
