Benefits of early dementia diagnosis include people maintaining their functional independence for longer, cost savings to healthcare systems and having longer to plan ahead.
Attended a great journal club the other week. Discussed this interesting https://t.co/TNkCqGSaVj study looking at incidence of chronic disease in the elderly. To me it emphasises a need to shift more towards the biopsychosocial model & early intervention to improve healthspan.
Itβs back to the Floor Friday for Chief AHP, Melanie Liley. This week, Melanie is spending the day with the teams at the New Selby War Memorial Hospital, who do a sterling job providing both inpatient and outpatient care for Selby and district locality.
So proud to have officially graduated from @YorkStJohn with a first class honours degree in Occupational Therapy. I love everything about this profession and canβt wait to see where the next few years take me ππ
Thank you to everyone who has been sharing this week how they support people in taking part in meaningful activities. π
Great photos from @FlintshireOT and Occupational Therapist @BethparkerOT.
Happy OT week from our inpatient unit. Here is @BethparkerOT teaching me on all the amazing equipment her and @EmmaFayOT have in stock to improve the quality of life for our patients at the community hospital @YorkResearch#teamOT#OTweek#MDT
Love this idea! Iβd really like to do something like this for the patients on our rehabilitation ward to promote more meaningful activity between their therapy sessions.
Proud of our new activity trolley @BTHCrCU. The plan is for the trolley to be wheeled around in the afternoons to help with boredom, cognition, well-being and a fun way of getting patients engaged with rehab. Huge thanks to all the staff that have donated supplies π #critcalcare
