Zimbabwe's new mining policy requires foreign investors in small-scale gold mining to commit a minimum capital investment of US$15 million.
But is that realistic in a market where raising US$500,000 to US$1 million can take months?
@rufarogz: "We have worked on transactions for small mines trying to raise US$500,000 to US$1 million, and we have gone for months without closing those transactions. There is no surplus of capital."
🎙️ Drawing on their experience as investment advisors @dziya_mya and @rufarogz unpack the realities of raising capital, investor appetite, and what the new mining policy could mean for Zimbabwe's mining sector.

The report which has been shared by the Parliament is an epitome of lies and misinformation. The 2232 which they claim to be a total of submissions received via emails is less than what was sent in the first week of the launch of our CDF portal. Just in one week, 2700 emails had been sent to Parliament.
If a parliament cannot competently count numbers of emails, there is no way the same institution can be trusted with the presidential vote. The parliament is just captured and incapable, this further justifies why #CAB3 must be rejected.
A parliament which cannot count emails can surely not count votes.
We are not scared. We visited our cdes and nothing happened to us. These useless threats will not stop us from showing solidarity to our cdes who are unjustly remanded in custody. These toothless thugs masquerading as CIOs do not scare us at all. When we joined this struggle, we knew three things: they can kill us, they can arrest us but they will never defeat us. We are ready and prepared to die for this struggle if that is the only way to save this country.

#LetFreedomSing Own Goals, Misses & Political Marriage Altars By Brian Tamuka Kagoro
In the coming weeks and months, we will witness across several countries a wave of unbelievable political re‑alignments, tectonic shifts, and dramatic dismissals. Every move will carry the potential to end dynasties, rewrite national trajectories, and usher in actors we never imagined would dare reach for the reins of power.
New names will surface. Strange coalitions will emerge. Africa — and much of the world — will be reshaped in under 18 months. And the catalyst? Complacency. Hubris. Misreading the moment. Political own goals. Overkill.
The Parable of the Empty Goalpost
Many years ago, I watched a football match where, in extra time, a brilliant player dribbled past the entire opposing team — including the goalkeeper. Alone in front of an empty net, he attempted a fancy tap‑in. The ball spun wide. A genius undone by unnecessary flair.
Last year, I watched defenders in the Premier League score spectacular own goals — the kind that leave stadiums silent and teammates stunned.
Remember this message. You will soon witness leaders and parties missing open political goalposts, fumbling opportunities that require no genius to convert. And you will see many political own goals so spectacularly foolish they will be studied for years.
Beware of Overkill
There is a danger in believing oneself immortal — a god among mortals. History punishes such delusions.
I recall the Bishop’s words to me in 2000:
“Whoever sins with and for you will certainly one day sin against you.”
Men and women driven by naked ambition know neither loyalty nor discretion. They worship only at the altar of self‑interest and an inflated sense of personal destiny. When they calculate that their fortunes lie elsewhere, they will abandon you at the political marriage altar without hesitation.
The Moment We Are In
This is a season where:
-Hubris will be punished
-Overconfidence will be exposed
-Political gods will bleed
-Alliances will fracture at the speed of self‑preservation
-New power centres will emerge from unexpected corners
Those who have mistaken silence for loyalty or suffering for submission will soon learn that the ground has shifted beneath their feet.
