An electrician has warned residents affected by the recent floods to have their electrical systems inspected before power is restored, cautioning that hidden faults could cause electric shocks or fire outbreaks.
The warning has also renewed calls for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to step up public education on post-flood electrical safety.

KLM is keeping us confined at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. I landed in Amsterdam on Friday morning. My flight was delayed by several hours and eventually got canceled. My next flight is scheduled for Sunday and involves traveling through three different countries after already flying from Vancouver to Minneapolis, and then from Minneapolis to Amsterdam. This means I will have spent five days traveling from Canada to Accra.
The Dutch police denied us visas, preventing us from getting an appropriate hotel close to the airport because we are not permitted to travel through two Schengen states. As a result, we are stuck at the airport from Friday morning until Sunday at 4:30 PM when we finally depart for Paris, then Casablanca, and finally Accra.
The Dutch police informed us that we would be denied transit to Paris due to insufficient visa documentation. This could mean we might miss our flight on Sunday. This situation is disgraceful and intolerable. Several passengers had their flights cancelled on Thursday, and then again on Friday. Ten of those impacted were arrested, detained for three hours, fined, and subsequently released for standing up for their rights. KLM should feel embarrassed about this situation.
