Thank you @AffirmingScot for today - another step towards a neuro-affirming nation! ๐ค Hoping to see the community grow and neuro-affirming practice to spread ๐ฑ
NAIT are in Aberdeen today and looking forward to our North region community of practice event, with colleagues from Highland, Grampian, Tayside, Shetland, Orkney and the Western Isles.
Brilliant advice for supporting students ๐ค
The most rewarding thing is seeing students come back as therapists, as they felt supported. This is the only way to do it!
@Kristina_SLT@RCSLTLearn@RCSLT@UCL_MScSLS@GivingVoiceUK Be a model of breaking down what "professional" looks like. They will have an internal critic and a need to be perfect. Help them embrace their authenticity. That will create the conditions for them to be able to thrive.
First a neuro-affirming community of practice...next up a neuro-affirming nation ๐ค๐ค that's the dream! A very important event and great to be a part of - lots to feedback to my MDT colleagues. Thank you ๐ @AffirmingScot@AutisticDoctor @CharleneTait_SA
Away to add "please feel welcome to stim or have movement breaks when required" to the start of any training presentations. I also enjoyed today's silent applause!
Let's expect different sensory preferences and change traditions to be more inclusive. At our event today we'll show silent appreciation.

It takes a bit of getting used to but it costs nothing and can mean a lot

๐A no blame culture will help us grow from awareness, acceptance, appreciation & empowerment all the way to advocacy
@NAITScotland
I am a little biased, but I can't think of a better band 5 job than this. Plenty of support in a friendly team, and experience that is transferable to any area of SLT (if for whatever reason you don't fall in love with working with the LD population!)

@eazy_breezy_mac Enjoy living in Troon! I grew up a 15 minute drive from there!! Get yourself a "Wee Hurrie" fish and chips! All the best with the job ๐ค
Lovely to return to work gradually after an unexpected rocky start to the year...very grateful for a supportive team. Always take care of you first - it's so important, and there is always a new chapter ahead โ๏ธ๐
