@afneil Andrew, This would have happened under the old government on July 1st if the election had not been held.
The argument for full independence was strong as the ESO was being asked to do more planning of the transmission system and interconnectors (both important for NG parent).

The 2024 General Election looks set to set records in more ways than one, but we're particularly pleased to see the largest number of women ever voted in to Parliament.
As per @thetimes the House of Commons will now reach 41% female representation, the highest ever share of women in Westminster.
We can't wait to celebrate some of the 264 female MPs soon, and get ever-more recognition of how important representation of women is across our industry 🙌

Imposter syndrome drains our energy, hampers productivity, and holds us back from promotions and other opportunities. In this interactive session, Emma Ewing, a specialist in building workplace confidence, will explore the positive aspects of imposter syndrome and how to make them work to your advantage. She will then share the negative aspects, examining how imposter syndrome influences unproductive behaviours and holds us back at work – and then suggest some strategies for addressing them. Finally, she will address the ugly: the systemic nature of imposter syndrome and its roots in inequality, helping you differentiate between personal confidence issues and environmental factors. Sometimes it really is them, not you.
Join us to gain insights on conquering this monster and even share a few laughs along the way! With thanks to @we_are_field for sponsoring this session. You can get your ticket here: https://t.co/SxoNY7fKsG
As this is a training event, we will be charging a small fee to confirm your place, but please do contact us at [email protected] if you are unable to cover this cost and you would like to reserve a space.
As always, we love to hear from you about our events, so please send your feedback in a direct message. We’re trying to shake things up with our events schedule, giving you more choice on timings, formats and subjects, and we’re particularly keen to hear from WiPA members who haven’t been along to any of our events before – specifically, we’re considering whether we might be able to trial an advance ticket access window for people who haven’t managed to get tickets in the past.
Wow, tickets for our Summer Party sold out in 30 minutes! Huge thanks to @Poli_Monitor for sponsoring the event and stay tuned for details about our guest speakers for the evening!

Today is a defining moment for National Grid as we announce a significant step up in energy infrastructure investment that cements our position as a leader in the energy transition on both sides of the Atlantic.
We’re investing around £60bn in networks in the next five years, with over £30bn of that in the UK. This investment will unlock economic growth and enable the increasingly digital, electrified and decarbonised economies of the future. National Grid will support 55,000 more UK jobs by the end of the decade.
To finance this unprecedented scale of investment and growth, we’ve announced a comprehensive financing plan including a £7 billion fully underwritten rights issue. This is a huge growth opportunity for National Grid that will bring significant benefits for the whole country.

Thank you to everyone who attended our sold-out breakfast event yesterday with @ToriesinComms, exploring what women want to see out of the 2024 general election, kindly sponsored by @WA_Comms
Chaired by Nikki da Costa, WiPA Senior Advisory Member, our network heard insights from @aisha_cuthbert, PPC for Sittingbourne & Sheppey, Danielle @DunfieldPrayero PPC for Wimbledon & the Maldens and @AphraBrandreth, PPC for Chester South and Eddisbury.
We were pleased so many were able to join us and engage with this amazing panel who reflected on a variety of topics, including the specific challenges of being a woman PPC and how these might be overcome, the panellists’ policy ambitions for the future, and how public affairs professionals can effectively engage with them during their campaigns.
Making up over 50% of the UK's electorate, this event highlighted the fact that women have the right to see themselves represented at every level of government, being a part of the policy decisions that affect them. Having women in the room when policy decisions are being made is crucial and we’re encouraged to see so many running for office, but as we heard yesterday, more work must be done to ensure they stay in office.
With an increased focus from all political parties on policies that directly affect women in the run-up to the election, we look forward to hearing more about support aimed at addressing gender disparities and empowering women across society.
