Iran’s response? They formally asked for half of it, $4.5 billion, routed to them through intermediaries. It gets stranger. During the Switzerland round, Iran reportedly sent Vance a private message warning that Kushner and Witkoff seemed to care more about cashing in on the negotiations than actually closing a deal.
