@mickaelistria@EclipseJavaIDE Both challenged and inspired - here is the bug report. I hope it’s clear. I will be happy to help and get a solid IDE for C++. I haven’t used Eclipse for ages. I miss it. If it’s easy to configure and background tasks do not end up in deadlocks, me happy!

What open source #IDE do you use for C++ development on #macOS?
I was so disappointed to find both the latest #vscode#cpptools and #Eclipse#cdt failing to debug a simple hello world on macOS. Sadly, the IDEs I evaluated were far from ideal.
@js_tut Not anymore. That was the case for the first 3-4 years in my career. Then my brain should have found a bunch of more sensible things to run in the background. As of today, I sleep like a newborn and no code's messing up that experience.
@The_Coding_Guru If my father was capable of teaching - being super experienced in a different field of Engineering - I would have accepted the offer every time. He isn't, so error and trial...
I find people luckier than me in this regards being much more methodical problem solvers than me.
@NehemiahKiv How to tweet along with soft skills, commitment, and data driven decision making. Numbers are not there to bite us in the a**, but to help us improve and get better.
@dannysteenman If it's low impact and I don't find it enjoyable, I call the sweep_it_under_rug(feedback) function.
If it's high impact, an exception is raised. It causes a FUD attack and kernel panic. The error is processed by the default error handler take_care_of_stuff(unpleasant_stuff).
How comes that the #Python extension for #vscode is so unusable?! Editor validation errors stay tfor minutes after issues are fixed. Happens consistently with files longer than 200 lines. Python strong typing support may mess it up...
Any hints for improving the dev experience?
@maggiecodes_ And if you are applying, well, expect nearly what I described with competent interviewers. If they just inform you about the outcome and cut you off, well it's better to happen at that point. You don't want to work with these people anyway.
@maggiecodes_ Whatever you come up with, make sure that you have a dedicated, technical interview session, where you could ask applicants about their solutions, what they could do better if provided with more time, challenge them to add a small feature, test, fix a bug. Observe more, talk less
