sighing, shauna walks over and wraps her arms around june. “fine,” she mumbles, honestly not even mad about missing soccer. “i do still have to babysit at the sadeckis this week.”
“and i heard you, but there’re still consequences,” june sighs, her features softening. “a week, that’s all. you hate soccer anyway now you have an excuse not to go.”
“it was a stupid high school
party,” shauna says, brows
furrowed and her arms folding
over her chest. eyes widen a
little; she’s never been grounded.
“you cannot be serious.”
“oh, great,” there’s a noise in
the back of her throat, her stomach
aching. “cops, that’s fantastic,
shauna.” it just reminded her of
thomas, always being involved with
the cops. “you’re grounded. no
soccer, straight home until i
decide otherwise.”
that has her eyes widening;
june never yelled, especially
not at her. “i’m sorry, okay?
the cops showed up, i ran
and ended up getting lost.
my phone was dead so i was
literally stuck. it’s not like i
did it on purpose.”
that gets a scoff from her, eyes
narrowed. “yeah, right back at you.”
her cup is carried to sink and she
pauses, “i’m not fucking stupid
shauna, i know what you do all
weekend, but staying out all
night and not telling me?! are
you fucking kidding?”
