Empowered Cafe is unique as our mission is to train and employ people with disabilities. We are located in the Grant Sawyer State Building in Las Vegas, NV.
This is one my favorite photos from our advocacy work in the @CityofReno. A friendly reminder that the disability community (Nevada’s largest minority group), has virtually no representation at all levels of government. We should do something about that.
Congrats to Mr. Huston and Ms. Barcelo! They are both The Smith Center and The Rogers Foundation Heart of Education Award winners! Thank you for giving your heart and soul to educating our students! #CCSDMagnet#1ForKids
@ErikJimenezNV @GovSisolak I teach a work experience program at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts for students with disabilities. This would be awesome information for them.
@ErikJimenezNV @GovSisolak I definitely want to get more information for my students. Would you be willing to speak to my class about it or know someone that could?
This should be happening for every meeting. Also - we really need to fix the process for colors/text of bills and amendments. Our visually impaired friends can’t read bills through their screen readers, and that’s not ok.
I had no idea Trina Jiles was the first Black female firefighter for Clark County! Thanks to @reviewjournal (and also @ZConine !) for helping bring this story to the forefront.
