REPEAT AFTER ME
Finding local keywords shouldn't take 6 hours with Ahrefs
Everyone overcomplicates this with search volume and keyword difficulty for no reason
Here's my 10-minute method (bookmark for later):
You know the drill - like and bookmark takes 2 seconds
If you're targeting local customers, you need the right keywords
Track them properly with Localrank afterward
Step 1: Start With The Obvious
- [your service] + [your city]
- "roof repair Dallas"
- "personal injury lawyer Austin"
- "HVAC service Phoenix"
Step 2: Check Google Autocomplete
- Type your main keyword in Google
- See what autocompletes
- Those are REAL searches people make
- Write them all down
Step 3: Scroll To "People Also Ask"
- Google shows common questions
- Turn those into content topics
- "How much does roof repair cost in Dallas?"
- Easy blog post right there
Step 4: Check "Related Searches" At Bottom
- More keyword ideas Google hands you
- Usually longer-tail variations
- Lower competition, easier to rank
Step 5: Look At Competitor GMB Keywords
- Search your main keyword
- Look at top 3 GMB listings
- Check their business descriptions
- See what keywords they're targeting
Step 6: Use The "Near Me" Trick
- Add "near me" to your service
- "roofer near me"
- Google prioritizes local results for these
Step 7: Go Hyper-Local
- Target neighborhoods, not just cities
- "plumber in Highland Park Dallas"
- "lawyer in downtown Austin"
- Less competition, more qualified leads
That's the whole process!
If this was valuable, drop that engagement
And track all these keywords with Localrank after
