I’ve been seeing so much discourse about Nolan’s Odyssey that I’m actually kinda excited to see it now, though I am absolutely watching it from the idea that I’m NOT gonna like it

Sinon is never mentioned in the Odyssey itself, his character is mentioned in Aeneid 2, by Virgil. Some scholars hypothesise that his name comes from the Latin ‘si non’, translating to ‘if not’ as he is the character that leads the Trojans to the Greeks’ deceptive wooden horse

It saddens me deeply how many of the Greek tragedies remain lost to us. We could have had Eurypides' 'Palamedes' or 'Alexander'... We could have had so much more of Sophocles' Odysseus...

@nightIancer Ahhh fair enough!! I’ve always been more focussed on Odysseus and themes in that Odyssey than the Iliad

@nightIancer FR!! When people realise that the Iliad is only a few days in the final year of the war, they’ll stop with all the ‘the Iliad is a better story than the Odyssey’ and realise that Achilles’ strop is not that interesting
