My husband called over lunch with the cutest update. He's at the home office today and noticed in the programmers bay a display that said "Hug Counter: 56" and asked the team about it. After some hemming and hawwing they admitted it was a counter of every time they've seen the kids come give him a hug while he works.

They used to work with cameras off but the new big boss wants them to have cameras on as of the last two weeks and they all noticed our kids will come in, get a hug and scoot out and they wrote a script they push to a raspberry pi and when it gets to 100 they're going out to a team lunch.

He's always had a policy that as long as the Do Not Disturb light isn't on outside his office they can come get a hug so long as they're quiet and his team (60% women) thinks it's adorable that he'll be talking and all of a sudden you see little arms wrap around his waist for a hug and a little head pop up under his armpit (he uses a standing desk) and he'll hug them back and keep talking. Apparently this has happened 56 times in the last two weeks while he's in meetings or walking someone through a problem in a huddle. He told them he wasn't upset about it at all and they had a good laugh, he said there are worse things to be than a manager with a hug counter.
