@LeeBraganza My children’s secondary school is changing to branded navy polo shirts (they wear in the summer terms) &branded v-neck jumper. Moving away from white shirts, ties and blazers-1 child is happy about the change but 1 loves her blazer as it’s got so many pockets 😆 will be cheaper!
Can someone tell me what I’m actually paying for?
My latest council tax bill has arrived. £330 a month.
For what?
We still have to pay extra just to have the garden waste collected.
The roads are knackered, the drains are blocked, and every time it rains the streets flood.
The local town is now devoid of shops because business rates and parking charges have made it almost impossible to trade and expensive for people to visit.
So where is the money going?
Councils spend tax revenue on vanity projects like cycle lanes that might see a bike once a decade and disability parking bays that sit empty most of the time.
Meanwhile the services we actually rely on continue to decline.
We are expected to pay more and more for less and less.
And at the same time we all see public money being spent on people who entered this country illegally and have never contributed.
So I’ll ask again.
What exactly are we paying for?
The whole system is broken.

there is something very, very, very wrong in the system... 😡
So … let me get this straight:
* British Gas made a profit of £1.3bn between January & June
* BP announced profits of £6.95 billion between April and June alone
* Shell has profited by £9.4bn in a year
The MEN at the top:
* John Pettigrew, boss of National Grid received £6.5m bonus on top of his salary
* Chris O’Shea, chief executive of British Gas owner Centrica was paid almost £2m last year in salary and benefits
* Centrica's non-executive directors were paid almost £1m
* Scottish Power's CEO Keith Anderson is on £1.15m.
* E.On boss Michael Lewis is on £1m
* EDF's Simone Rossi is also on £1m
* And their top execs enjoyed a share of £4.65m
* Peter Simpson of Anglian Water earned a £1.3m pay package
* Welsh Water bosses awarded themselves bonuses of over £930,000
* Severn Trent bosses awarded themselves bonuses of £5.56m
* Thames Water's Sarah Bentley, received a £727,000 bonus on top of her £2m annual salary
Meanwhile there are...
* People who haven't had breakfast and/or lunch TODAY, because they can't afford it.
* People using FoodBanks because food is becoming more of a luxury than a necessity.
* Children celebrating a birthday without presents.
* Parents worrying about new school uniforms - and some schools enforcing rules which are not cost-effective.
* People who can't get to work because they can't afford to put petrol in their cars/pay for public transport anymore.
* People who are working so much they're making themselves ill, and they STILL CAN'T AFFORD to pay their bills.
* People who have been given fines by these same energy/water companies because they couldn't afford to pay their bills in the first place - increasing their debt.
* Customers being told to do STAR JUMPS TO KEEP WARM for crying out loud!
* Hose pipe bans when gallons of water leak away everyday.
* Elderly people NOT DRINKING because they're worried about running out of water!!!
All this and energy prices are set to rise up to 75% in October...
THIS IS MADNESS!.. I'm all for supporting profits … I'm not for supporting greed at the cost of lives of others.
Something needs to change.
Why is customers' money being used to make life more comfortable for those who are making life more intolerable for the rest of us?
I actually don't understand how the energy companies are allowed to get away with this and why the government aren't stopping them instead of handing out money.
@DeputyGrocott My daughters are Liliana and Izzabella. They have had a variety of different spellings on their work/feedback etc throughout school. In reception, the TA kept shortening Liliana to Lily and she kept telling her she didn’t like her name shortened… she still did it 🤦🏼♀️
🚨Keir and his mates are colluding against the British people to surrender the Chagos Islands
The cast of characters involved in this ‘negotiation’ absolutely stink - and they all link back to Starmer 👇
Representing the Mauritian Government as their lead negotiator is Philippe Sands KC. Sands campaigned to elect Starmer as Labour leader and described him as a ‘great friend’. Sands has previously spoken about ‘humiliating’ Britain through his legal work.
Representing the British Government on our negotiating team we now have Lord Hermer, another donor to Starmer’s leadership campaign and friend of 30 years. You might know Lord Hermer for his previous work representing Gerry Adams. Starmer is planning to pay out millions of pounds to Gerry Adams and his fellow IRA terrorists and sympathisers - and we still don’t know whether Hermer was involved in that decision.
Before becoming Attorney General, Lord Hemer worked with Philippe Sands at Matrix Chambers for *10 years*. They know each other well.
Together, Starmer, Hermer and Sands have reportedly agreed for the UK Government to make massive concessions to the Mauritian Government. That includes an additional £9 billion payment to Mauritius for the privilege of taking our sovereign territory, taking the total fee to £18 billion, PLUS the right for Mauritius to veto extending the lease.
I say ‘reportedly’ because Starmer won’t be honest with the British public and say how much his surrender deal costs. He knows the British public would be furious if they found out.
There’s supposedly no money for winter fuel payments or an increase in defence spending, but Starmer has seemingly found a spare £18 billion of taxpayer money to squander on an ally of China.
Can you think of any other self-respecting nation that would do this to themselves?
Quisling Keir cares more about his reputation amongst the international legal fraternity than what’s good for Britain.
This disastrous deal is nothing short of traitorous.
How come there is nothing in place to safeguard the general public against a Political Party that is working against it’s citizens rather than for them.
Surely there should be someone in this country who can override a government who is acting so recklessly to ruin people’s lives on purpose?
I don't want a fancy NHS app. I just want to make an appt with my GP without describing my symptoms to the rottweilers on reception who might, if I'm lucky, offer me a phone-call sometime in the future.
Doesn't seem like a lot to ask.
Every month this year, I intend to give away a full class set of one book via @ANewChapterBks - I truly believe a full class set is one of the most valuable resources a teacher can have when teaching reading.

January.
Went to use the @bluelightcard in @lindt today to be told I could only get the discount if I showed an NHS card. Apparently, there’s too many teachers with the card and they don’t want to give us the discount…
