Two evenings ago, on May 5, I was recognized and honored at my department’s end-of-year celebration for receiving the John F. Murray Outstanding Doctoral Student in Teaching Award and the Graduate College Post-Comprehensive Research Award.

Teaching and research are hallmarks of academia, and I’m grateful that my work in both areas is being recognized and supported.

I’m deeply honored to have been selected by my department’s graduate faculty to receive the prestigious “John F. Murray Outstanding Doctoral Student in Teaching” Award.

I will formally receive the award at the department’s end-of-year celebration on May 5.

This award recognizes my excellence in teaching and commitment to student learning, mentorship, and success over the past eight semesters as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Instructor of Record.

I dedicate this recognition to the hundreds of students with whom I’ve walked this road of teaching and learning at the University of Iowa, United States.
