No AC in the middle of a heatwave is no way to treat our city's older adults. The Department for the Aging is the lowest funded agency in the city. We need a budget that invests in our older adults!

Thanks to Councilmember @ebottcher and @monicamoralestv for spotlighting our failing HVAC. We need the city's support to keep older adult centers (OACs) safe when temperatures soar. Its past time for the city to give NYCAging a capital budget to invest in OAC infrastructure.
@JeremyLKaplan on aging in New York City : "Acknowledge to yourself that this isn't somebody else's problem. We're all getting older, and we need to take care of one another. Its easy to say 'That's the government's job' - but really, caring for older adults is our job"
Thank you Chair Hudson for your advocacy. Older Adults built this city and is the fastest growing demographic. Cutting older adult center funding shows misguided priorities. The administration MUST fully fund New York’s Older Adult Centers so every Older New Yorker can thrive.
NYC is set to see billions in previously unprojected revenue. Despite this, @NYCAging's Prelim Budget is full of unnecessary cuts. Join me tomorrow for the @NYCCouncil Committee on Aging's Preliminary Budget Hearing at 1PM, and let's talk 💰!

#JustPay It's time for fair compensation and more funding for our aging pop and those who care for them. The Mayor's vision for NYC must include #olderadults and care providers! They are essential to our city's fabric. Yet, overlooked in the latest State of the City address.

Peter, 75, is an artist and a writer who was a NYC Sanitation Worker for 20 years and started acting at 39. Thanks to Encore Community Services Playwright’s program he wrote his first play this year and had it performed by professionals.

We know providing one meal a day is not enough to truly address #food insecurity among older adults. This investment will help us do more in supporting an #EncoreforLife for all!
We’re proud to share we just completed a major kitchen renovation at our flagship Older Adult Center. Thanks to a grant from @NYCAging, we have TRIPLED our capacity, and will be able to provide 1.25 MILLION meals per year to older New Yorkers!
Our state-of-the-art equipment, expanded storage capacity, and new status as a commissary kitchen means that our center will be able to better support our members and our sector in meeting the nutritional needs of aging NYers.
Thank you to all our supporters. Together, we're ready to deliver care for thousands of older adults living their Encore for Life. We need your help more than ever. Our fight continues for the city’s 125,000 human service workers and the older adults that rely on them.
Despite annual battles for funding, @NYCAging faced severe budget cuts this year. We've rallied, campaigned, and testified on the huge impact cuts would have on our city's elders. Our advocacy saw no bounds – from opinion pieces to city hall camp-outs 🧵
We’re also incredibly dismayed that human service workers' calls for a cost of living adjustment are ignored. It's time to end poverty wages and #JustPay our essential workforce. @liveonny
